Vendor payments- Check vs. Cash

BringOnMay!, on May 5, 2015 at 7:35 AM Posted in Planning 0 20

4 days. I'm in total IDGAF mode. 75% of me is saying I need to withdraw cash from our wedding account and deposit it into my checking account so I can pay our Photographer. The other 25% of me wants to be lazy and just give him cash.

Tell me I shouldn't be dumb and I need to write the guy a check. Right?? (In case there's an issue down the road with proof of payment....?)

PS- I know this is a dumb question. Fuzzy wedding brain has a hold pretty strong.

I think withdrawing cash is more work than tranferring it in to checking. You might not have to write an actual check, he may be able to accept an eft or I paid mine with paypal.

No dumb questions! Well, not a lot. Usually.

It is a lot of work! The money is in two different banks, and the wedding account is only in FH's name. He doesn't accept paypal or use efts either. Sigh.

Yup a paper trail is always helpful, in case any issues come up later. Four days, exciting!

Check. Even if it is more work (which it doesn't sound like it is), it's the safer way. Cash is usually nearly untraceable. Better to use a check.

Yea i would want the paper trail, just incase he becomes a jerk and decides to say you didnt give the final payment

can you get the bank to write a check out to the photographer from the wedding account? i am not sure thats possible but they do that with my FHs bills sometimes when he pays by phone.

I wouldn't care in what form it came in, I agree though, paper trail is advisable.

I love paying things in cash, but we just had a vendor who made made a partial payment with and she had forgotten to put in the cash we gave her. Luckily we had a receipt. I would recommend transferring.

I hate using cash, but even putting that aside, I think it's smarter to use a check.

In yesterdays mail I received an envelope full of cash. Lucky for my bride & groom that I'm honest. Otherwise I could say I never received it.

    Send a check!

If you do use cash, get a receipt. We have a duplicate receipts so we can give you a copy and have one for ourselves. You could always get cash and do a money order or maybe get a cashiers check at the bank if that makes you more comfortable.

We used PayPal with most of our vendors. If you use cash, require a receipt.

If you're giving the payment in person you can pay cash but just make sure you get a receipt right there. I don't use checks but I always save my receipts so they can't say I didn't pay.

You want the paper trail. Is a credit card an option?

Check, or demand a receipt from the vendor if you do cash.

I work for a DJ and we have had discrepancies in the past so we are able to pull up the check # and our bank statement and fix them. I would definitely write a check!!!
