Do you count your DJ and photographers as guests of the wedding for meals? My venue offers vendor box meals but I had a debate with someone at work that that was completely inappropriate and that you should be paying for your DJ to eat a meal with everyone else as they are there for 6 hours. I disagree with this as we are already paying him and why would I want him drinking at my wedding which is what most of the costs are for the meal? What do you think? We are also trying to get a small group of people to play strings during the ceremony..do you feed them as well? Thanks!

Most of what others have said is perfectly acceptable. I personally provide both Officiant services and Photography services. I all to often find myself informing clients that they do not need to provide me any meal as the Officiant. I inform them that unless you require me to perform a blessing or other service at your reception I am just not needed. However when providing Photography services I do have the following in my contract: "You are asked to provide a meal for any contracted services more than 4 hours in length. This does not need to be the same meal you and your guests are eating. " When I get to this part of the contract review I do explain to them that some venues do offer "Vendor" discounted meals. You would be surprised how often your clients may not be aware of this option. As for the Drinking portion. I bring bottled water with me along with a few snack bars just in the event i need a small snack. I don't drink while "On the job". When our job is finished. We pack up and leave. As many others have said. Most of the time you don't know anyone else that is at the event you are servicing, so sticking around even when offered to do so is not something we do often. Remember you represent your brand or your company the entire time. If I want a drink after a long work day; I poor one when I get home.

We were totally planning to feed our photographers, videographers and DJ. But for everyone else (hair, makeup, officiant, photobooth attendant), is the general conses that it's not expected if they work less than 4 hours?
