Vendor meals for venue employees?

#mattsmrs18, on June 29, 2016 at 12:04 PM Posted in Etiquette and Advice 0 9

My venue is an in house deal that is also doing the catering. Along with the catering we get a few employees that set up and monitor the food and drinks, plus someone to cut and pass out the cake. When doing the contract there was no mention of vendor meals, so I'm wondering if I should bring it up in an upcoming meeting or if their meals are covered since they are employed by the venue.

Generally you are not obligated to provide and pay for meals for the employees and staff at the venue. I worked for 2 catering companies, and they both fed us as employees.

At my venue, I need to provide meals for the 2 lead singers in the band, and the photographers. My venue coordinator said that the cost would be for the food only, not alcohol.

Definitely talk with your venue so you can factor in the cost if needed.

The venue staff meals gets paid by the venue. the vendors meals get paid by you.

Pretty sure the venue staff are not considered vendors. Any vendor you bring in should be fed.

I would ask but I would think they would be covered by the venue now outside vendors that I think would be different and you would need to feed them

Ok! Thank you ladies! I know I need to feed my own vendors, I just wasn't sure what was the norm with the venue's staff.

I would also ask, our venue provided free "in-house vendor meals" which was an assortment of the cocktail hour apps and then pasta station options. We did that for all of our vendors. They never even mentioned the employees from the venue itself when we discussed but I'm assuming they probably feed them as well if needed.

But it's always good to confirm every venue is different

My venue has set venue meals, or they can eat the buffet food at the same price as we would pay for a minor. It's cheaper since the open bar price isn't included for them. We don't feed venue staff, which seems to be the norm.

I would ask the venue so that you aren't surprised last minute.
