Vendor extra upgrade ideas?

Nicole, on September 26, 2019 at 1:29 PM Posted in Wedding Reception 0 17
Any advice on what to add for reception/ceremony vendor upgrades? We need to come up with about $700 more to reach our minimum to spend. We have 120 guests, basic open bar (premium bar would put us out of budget, and so would any extra desserts other than our cake). We’ve already added ~ $400 extra in appetizers, added soup with our salad, added 30 min extra bar time, and upgraded to Chiavari chairs for a discount. We still need to come up with $700 more? We prefer standard white linens and table clothes too, so we’re stumped on what to ask for 😣 !! Help. We’re not sure what guests would most appreciate.

Champagne toast? Champagne greeting when guests arrive to the ceremony or cocktail hour? Infused water & tea station to greet guests before the ceremony? Seating instead of buffet dinner? Midnight snack?

How about one of those drinks people name after themselves? Or what about seeing if they can make take home boxes for your guests with desserts or something in them? Or something to jazz up the dance floor, like how people put their monogram down or a strobe light or something. I don’t know if you have yet or not, but you could ask them if they have a list of add ons, or if they could help suggest something to get you up to the minimum. I’m sure you’ll figure something out.

We had a similar problem. Our minimum was on food and drinks only so we added a late night snack. We would have upgraded chairs, but that didn't count towards our minimum. Do you have a signature drink? That was included in ours, but not sure if it is included with yours? What about adding another side or meat? Not sure how many sides or meats you already have. Does your venue offer uplighting? Ours did and it was extra for them to include it? We got married in a hotel and they have a special suite for the bridal party to get ready in. It was approximately $200 extra maybe something like that? Our DJ surprised us with a bubble machine that started as we left the ceremony. Does your venue offer anything cool you could use? What about a candy bar instead of other desserts or smores station? Our venue offered a smores bar at like $2.50 per person, but not sure about other venues. We had our florist/decorator do a candy bar and it was about $500. I would recommend reaching out to your venue coordinator and see what other upgrades that wouldn't blow your budget.

How about a late night snack? We had 2: S'mores and grilled cheese sandwiches. Or, since you're having a Fall wedding, could you add a hot cider/hot chocolate bar? We had one and people loved it!

My catering is through the venue, so we aren't allowed to bring in our own food/drinks. For help meeting minimum catering requirements, they recommended adding champagne/mimosa/ getting ready snacks for the wedding party while we are in our bridal and groom suites that morning.

Oh I love the idea for champagne or some other kind of cocktail for guests upon arrival! Reminds me of the lemonade at the bridal shower in the movie Bridesmaids Smiley xd

I will see about the lighting and even see if it's extra for a monogram lighting if you do not have that already

If its not included with basic open bar, perhaps you could pay for champagne for a champagne toast? At my venue it is extra to get champagne, but I am not sure if your venue includes it in the open bar. Also what about a fun photo booth! Smiley smile

I think having a seasonal bar of some sort would be amazing! S’mores, (spiked) hot cocoa, grilled cheese, funnel cake...

Are there any centerpiece or flatware upgrades? I would look into that!

Not sure if this would add too much cost but maybe a late night snack? Pick an affordable little snack for later in the night to serve.

Or as others have said look into a welcome drink, champagne toast, or uplighting!
