Veil during the Reception? or Switch it Up?

Krystal, on April 5, 2015 at 7:44 AM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 17

SO, I'm wearing a couture dress, and went with a simple, finger-length two tiered veil, no detail, rolled edge hem. The Fiance is completely against a bird cage veil, even at the reception...but...but...it's a VINTAGE wedding! (*insert foot stomp) lol. That being said, I have been considering just leaving my veil on for the duration of our event. I mean, think about it, you only wear a veil one other time in your life (maybe) and it's black, and I know damn well none of us want to think about that NOW. Ehem, so... keep veil on....maybe a jeweled forehead band? (think art deco, Great Gatsby...) I just can't decide, Not to mention, is it going to be difficult to move around in? People hugging me will pull on my hair ect... The dress is pictured below...HELP!!! lol

I've only been to one wedding where the bride kept her veil on during the reception. Personally, I think it would be one more thing to worry about not getting tugged or looking good in photos – I'd probably use the reception to switch it up to a fun forehead band to match the theme or something. Or maybe keep the veil on until after first dances then change it up?

I am taking my veil off, but I am wearing a jeweled hair comb. I think a headpiece is the way to go for the reception!

I'm taking my veil off, but its also super long, (cathedral length I think lol). I ordered a fascinator hair clip with albino peacock feather and some diamonds and pearls to put on once I take my veil off.

Thanks ladies, you confirmed my thoughts of it being just one more thing to worry about! I do like the idea of keeping it on for the first dance...and I want feathers too!! lol

If you don't want a tiara, I would go with a flowered or jeweled headpiece. I think veils are a little much for a reception...plus it's one more thing to worry about.

I'm having a cathedral veil for the ceremony and am already sad that I'll only be wearing it for such a short time. Especially bc it is gorgeous and cost me 700 dollars...LMAO. I am switching to a tulle birdcage veil that has a few rhinestones on it and is on a jeweled clip for the reception. Why is your fiance so against a birdcage?

I am planning on wearing my cathedral veil during the ceremony and the reception. We are going to bustle the veil when we bustle the dress. I'll mostly likely take it off right before the bouquet toss.

First your dress is amazing. I simple head band or comb with a little bling is all you need at the reception.

I've decided on a fingertip veil for the ceremony and hair comb and birdcage for the reception.

First of all, your dress is gorgeous. Second, I get not wanting wear your veil all night, I'm wearing a cathedral length one for ceremony and photos and then wearing a headpiece for the rest of the night. Maybe a headpiece could be a happy medium for you?

Oh goodness!! You girls have all flattered me about my dress!! Thank you!! It's an Allure Couture Dress, and I bought it online from a bridal shop Boston. I had never actually seen it in person, or tried it on before purchasing because it is my DREAM dress!!!!! I first saw it in a magazine shortly after getting engaged. Upon it's arrival, and to my delight it fit like a glove, I only have to have it hemmed because I'm simply afraid of heights, or vertically challenged lol! I asked my Fiance' why he disliked birdcage veils so much and of course he says something mushy "because it covers your beautiful face." Um, that's what veils are for!!!! lol I'm sure even if I decided to wear one he would love it, he's more of a visual person.
