Vegetarian options??

AlmostMrsMillick, on September 14, 2016 at 12:53 PM Posted in Planning 0 28

We are having a catered pig roast for our wedding but I know some people on FHs side are vegetarians. What vegetarian options are you having?

We are having quinoa stuffed portobello caps with a truffle oil drizzle. I was a vegetarian for a while and always appreciated vegetarian meals with substance rather than just a salad or some mixed veggies.

We did a stuffed bell pepper with quiona. Also had a big vegetarian friendly salad and sides.

Grilled mushroom or veggie patties wold pair well with a pig roast

This is one of the great things about my brunch reception. It's a buffet, so everyone gets a bunch of options, and brunch food lends itself really well to vegetarian diets. It also helps that we're having a waffle bar and omelette station, so they'll be able to ask for whatever meatless thing they want.

Our vegetarian option is a pumpkin ravioli. I wanted to make sure we had a filling vegetarian option.

FH's a vegetarian, so he gets to choose what our veg option is. We haven't decided yet, but knowing him, probably gnocchi with pesto.

For appetizers, we have stuffed tomatoes and deviled eggs.

For dinner we have a gnocchi with seasonal vegetables.

One of our vegetarians is also gluten free so they are making her a special plate. And we have a few gluten free cupcakes to accompany our cake.

Our salad and sides are veg (mushroom risotto and roast potatoes) but for the veg entree we're either having the stir-fry tofu or black bean/chickpea patties with mango salsa. Personally the latter sounds delicious to me.

I'm going to talk with my venue/caterer and our guests - 2 of them are vegan, so I'm going to see what options we can have offered by the chef, and then try to let them pick.

I agree with PP - I worry that my vegan & vegetarian guests will end up with a meal with no substance, so I want to make sure there are decent meals available.

What kind of appetizers are you offering - will there be vegetarian options?

What exactly is a silent vegetarian? I tried to google it, I swear, but only got weird answers...

We are doing Italian for our dinner, so a lot of options are available to us for vegetarians which is good since my sister/MOH and a few of our friends are vegetarians!! For our mains we are doing a meat (steak I think?) dish, a pasta which was easy for everyone both meat and vegetarian, and then eggplant parmesan for those that are vegetarian. Smiley smile

    @Fall - I see! Thanks.

We're not listing veg on our RSVP card, but do have it listed on our website to contact us if there are dietary restrictions, and I'm pretty confident I know most of them to begin with - 2 of FH's friends and FSIL's mother. We also have a few gluten free/dairy free guests invited who I will talk with prior to ordering their meals.

We get 3 meal options, and I didn't love any of the vegetarian choices enough to offer them as a main course.

I'm having a buffet and there are 2 vegetarians. Besides the salad and veggies, I'm having a special pasta primavera made specifically for them

We're putting beef, chicken and fish on the rsvp cards, but already know of 2 vegans who are coming. We already notified our venue and they will handle that for us. I'm also grabbing some vegan cupcakes from a local bakery so they don't miss out on the cake experience.

@Alyssachu Our venue told us to put that on the RSVP card and they would prepare a meal to fit their restrictions
