various age ranges in bridesmaids (help with dress)

mrs_in_september14, on April 14, 2014 at 1:51 PM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 11

Hi Ladies, so now I am taking all of your advise and starting to shop bridemaids dresses now. I have a question my bridemaids are 13 (JRBM), 17, 20, 30, 36 and 45. Now does anyone have a wide range of ages like that and if so can I see your dresses?

Will I be able to find a dress that compliments all the ages. I don't want the young ones to feel old and the older ones to feel like the dress is too young! I also need to get the younger ones on board with my vision romatince and vintage! thank you!!!

I ended up getting mine from David's bridal. My girls are 13, 25 and 35. The dress for the 13 year old was too big and she will need it taken down in size, but it works and they all looked great.

I would suggest that you get your BM dresses within the next 2 weeks at the latest. I actually chose my BM dresses yesterday and was told that they needed to be ordered by May in order not to have them rushed.

I have 6 bridesmaids, 14, 16, 29, 30, 31 and 43, so I'm the same boat that you are. My 14 and 16 year olds are very petite (5'0 and 90 pounds and my 43 year old is average (5'5 and maybe 140 pounds) The dress that I chose looked great on everyone, so much so that I wanted to buy it for myself. It's Watters WTOO 501. The picture is actually the 14 year old in the dress.

@Heather, yes I am trying to get to David's soon as one of the stores to go.

@kristenann, that is a beatuful dress! Yes we are starting this week or next, it is just hard getting everyone together, but I will just probably go with my 2 daughters and then have the other girls try it on their own.

Have you considered just doing the same color/fabric choice/length and letting each person pick whatever style of dress best suits them? That way the stress of finding something that flatters everyone is lessened.

Agree with Katlyn - with that big of an age range, you want to give options instead of trying to shoehorn them all into the same dress.

My bridesmaids are all realitivly the same ages but completely different sizes - 5'2" to 5'11" and weight ranges from 120-200. I went with the same color but let them choose their own dresses they all are a sweet heart neckline, the same fabric type, and they're floor leagnth. Being the same color they actually look really similar but fit each girl the right way. That would probably be the best thing to do.

Maybe let them pick their own under color, length, and fabric guidelines?

Thanks everyone, I was actually thinking about what some of you ladies suggested, the same length and color just different styles.

@mrscountryplace love that dress do they have it in long length?

My girls are all different shapes. I chose a color and let them choose whatever dress they wanted.
