Useful Wedding Favors

A lot of the wedding favors I have seen are kinda pointless and the ones I've gotten from attending weddings usually end up in a pile or the trash. Any body have ideas of USEFUL but cute wedding favors?

My roommate just went to a wedding that had custom wood laser cut coasters as their favors. They are really cute and we use them.

Otherwise, I'm always a fan of edible favors.

Our *favors* will be our place cards, which are mini easels my FH and I are painting ourselves, and individual slices of pie boxed up.

We are doing a photo booth and giving little bags of kisses. Photo booths are fun for everyone.

@Shortandsweet- A donation is not a favor because it is for you and making you feel good, not for your guests.

Go ahead and use your money any time for a donation to a charity, just don't notify everyone that you made a donation. Many of us support charities on a regular basis, but we don't tell all our friends and family and get a little "Good on you" pat on the back.

It's certainly understandable that a couple who has endured a loss, would rather donate to a charity. Just don't pretend it's a favor.

No one is ever going to say " I wish I got Skittles..." because no one cares about favors.

Even edible favors are hit and miss. Way too many couples decide to bottle bbq sauce, salsa, jam, honey etc when they have absolutely no experience and no idea what to do for safe preservation.. I'll pass thanks.

Well like I said, they will have Hershey kisses with them also.. not like I think anyone would actually be "annoyed" at the fact that we donated. Regardless, it's still better than nothing at all. My FH and I weren't necessarily looking for a "pat on our backs" for donating, we just are trying to incorporate my dad into the day as much as we can with little details here and there and we thought that the cards with kisses would be a good personal touch.

Either way, with 200 guests, it's probably almost impossible to please every single one with whatever favor you do choose! So I say go with what YOU and your FH think is best and your guests can choose to take their favors home or leave them, no big deal!

My FH and I will be giving skeleton key bottle openers as favors. They fit the theme of our wedding nicely, and are something that I know several of our guests will find useful. . . I personally never really liked most favors that I've gotten over the years. Some that I wouldn't mind would probably be wine or honey or a little succulent. . . Idk why, but personalized koozies and things of that nature have always seemed a bit cheesy to me.

I posted mine about two days ago - set of glass coasters with constellations on them. Because they aren't edible, I decided to also use them as escort cards for guests to find their seats at the reception. So whether or not they get taken home with guests, they still served a purpose and I was able to give something for those that want to take them home. And I think they were more useful than other things I've seen at previous weddings I've been to.

One wedding my fiance and I went to, the favor were mints with a personalized sticker on little tin containers. They were cute, but I wasn't planning on taking one.

But...when we got home from the wedding, my fiance emptied his pockets with like 4 tin containers of mints. Turns out, he hid them in his pockets when I went to the bathroom. He also shoved 2 containers in my purse. Only slightly embarrassing, but he loved the mints. They were from oriental trading.

Because our guests are all traveling to our wedding in Key West, we are putting together beach bags. We figure they won't have to schlep stuff home. Adults will have a canvas beach bag with stuff like sunblock, aloe, lip balm, ibuprofen, a bottle opener, salt water taffy, drink coozy, etc. The little kids will get a sand pail and shovel, personalized wedding activity kit, goldfish, juice box, and the like.

    I heart Oriental Trading Company.

One of our favors will be embroidered handkerchiefs with our new initials and wedding date on them.

Other than that, no favors besides boxes full of leftover dessert.

Our venue requires plastic cups for alcoholic beverages so we're doing personalized cups with a cute saying and our names with the date. I figure they're reusable, everyone could use cups

I'm making sea glass candy as our favors ( I have experience in the food industry and know how to do it safely). They'll be in our wedding colors and match our stupidly nautical theme.

Favors seems to be falling out of favor around here. A lot of people say to skip them or go with something edible. Personally, I know with my friends and family that a nice favor is appreciated so we’re giving one. We're also doing a to-go donut station so they'll get something edible as well.

As for useful, I got a really pretty well-made wine opener at a wedding once that I held onto for a few years.

I would avoid cheap personalized novelty items that are either going to break as soon as the guest gets home though.

And I feel like if the couple really wants to give a donation to a charity then register with a charity and ask your guests to donate instead of bringing you a gift.

If you're doing photo booth, I got magnets for the photo strips so they can put it in their fridge.

My sister did sparkling cider bottles with their engagement photos on them. I did 2, little bubble bottles and it was fun for the kids. I also the the theme two hearts intwined, so we found tiny silver ornaments with 2 hearts. I thought that they could be used at Christmas. Reusable and were cute at the tables with their names in them.
