Upper lip hair removal

1Sooner.fan, on April 26, 2016 at 6:28 PM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 32

I have pretty dark and therefore noticeable upper lip hair.

I usually just let it go and only pluck it when I know there will be pictures. However, I HATE plucking it because it hurts like hell and takes me over an hour and is never completely done and even.

I don't want to pay someone else to do it either because that's just not in the budget.

Does anyone use those creams for facial hair removal? Any recommendations?? I've tried one kind and it really dried out my upper lip and made it very red for like a week, so that worries me.

If anyone has any the recommend that don't cause redness, please let me know!! I'm so tired of the agony of plucking...and the awkwardness of just leaving it for all to see.

Oh man, I just get it waxed. I know it's not in the budget so I hope someone can chime in!

There is a prescription cream called vaniqua - it slows the growth tremendously. There is also laser hair removal if you're looking for a more permenant solution. It's pricey-but it sounds like you're a good candidate if your hair is dark.

I do! I use the Sally Hansen hair removal which is specific to your face. I have fairly sensitive skin and have never had a problem. I do it for the max 8 mins but you could start with less to test it.

Laser hair removal! I didn't pay for additional sessions, but it drastically cut down the amount of hair. I keep it clean with plucking.

I buy Sally Hanson wax strips and do it at home. It will cause redness though, but goes away after a half hour or so for me.

Have you tried bleaching? I used to use Jolen cream bleach from Walgreens which worked well. I prefer waxing though.

Or I suppose you could just shave it (?) Again, I prefer waxing.

Nair removal specifically for the face works. Also, an eyebrow/bikini shaver can work on that area too (it's a myth that shaving makes hair darker)

I highly recommend Laser, I've done it for other areas and it worked great. I found groupons that were very reasonable.

It will create some temporary redness, though.

I would say waxing or threading. They aren't super expensive if you consider it lasts for quite a while

Have you gone to get it waxed? It cost about the same as hair remover cream, or at least it does where I'm at.

You're lucky jerseyjen! I did a bunch of sessions for bikini and face, my hair is just too light. I use the Vaniqua now...but it's not permenant and it's expensive.

I'd say reconsider waxing! I get mine done once every three weeks or so and it costs about $10. To me it's worth it to just get the pain over with quickly, haha. If you have sensitive skin I'd actually suggest waxing over a hair removal cream, as well. They made me break out.

European Wax Center charges $10 for Upper Lip Waxing. That might be an option for a once before the wedding small expense.

Kristen: Oh, yeah. I'm a dark haired, hairy Italian! Laser worked wonders on all my areas. My favorite results were my underarms. I really can't recommend it enough. I have about 4 hairs that grow on each underarm now. I used to have black specks show up within an hour of shaving before and my entire fucking underarm was covered with hair. It was really frustrating.

I started doing laser for a medical condition on my legs but I was so impressed with the results, I did my upper lip and underarms too. I used a groupon and just researched the shit out the salon before I purchased.

I'm super jealous!! If I wasn't so blonde I'd be doing it everywhere I didn't want hair! Lol I'm just stuck being fuzzy-it sucks! I would LOVE to do my under arms too!

In two days I'll be waxing for our DW & its fucking torture!!! Under arms, bikini and brows. Meh! Lol

I highly recommend threading. Hurts like hell but over in a few minutes, cleaner and easier on the skin than waxing. I only pay like $10 for upper lip, or $20 with brows.

I hear a lot about this threading thing-is it cleaner than waxing? I imagine it's better because you're not ripping the skin along with the hair? It sounds torturous on the upper lip to be honest...

I use Nair. Works like a charm and lasts for a week!
