Upon our Star wedding registry website?

Jamie, on October 24, 2010 at 6:44 PM Posted in Planning 0 7

Is anyone using upon our star wedding registry? My fiance and I are thinking of using it for our wedding so that guest could help us pay for portions of our wedding. Let me know...thanks

Love the concept, but we liked depositagift.com better, so that's the one we went with. been really happy with it!

We had a tough time deciding between DepositAGift and SimpleRegistry because they are both great sites. In the end, we decided on SimpleRegistry because it was less expensive and we liked our registry page design better. Upon Our Star registry lacked a lot in both of those categories.

I looked at them all and we went with www.DepositaGift.com and loved it! So let me save you some time...I think it's the most straightforward and easiest to use site, and their customer service is tops. Whatever you need: honeymoon, new home, furniture, charity, etsy, romantic activities, or a little bit of all, you can create a registry of them and get the monetary contributions to spend as you wish. Brilliant!

The real question is why to register at all if what you want is cash. If people give you cash directly, you save on the fees associated with the registries.

I think it really depends on what is the norm in your family in friends group. If they are cash givers, then you don't need it. But a lot of people aren't comfortable giving money if they don't know how it's going to be used. Or they feel weird if they can only give a small amount. For us, since our guests are more inclined to be 'registry' people, DepositaGift.com gave them a registry to shop from, we got to share how we wanted to use the money so they felt informed, and it let people give whatever they could, big and small gifts. Some friends who could only give a small amount said that they liked how the site let them contribute to something bigger, and made them feel like they were giving a significant gift. That was something I hadn't thought of, but was a nice perk!

They are very fee heavy; would not recommend.
