*UPDATE WITH PHOTOS* Trying to stay positive.... Wedding dress blues

Joanna G, on August 18, 2013 at 7:39 PM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 23

I went to my fitting yesterday and we tried the dress with lots of different undergarments and found one that make it a lot less noticeable (the folding fabric). It's actually a regular slip and it's a lot more comfortable. SO, here is my dress

________________________

My dress looks beautiful on me but when i sit down, all this fabric bunches in the front and we may have to sit in church :/ I went to my 2nd fitting and it was awful. They said they don't think they can fix it. It was 2 hours and so overwhelming. There were 3 different opinions but then they said that I was going to spend more money and it would look the same. They have the dress and want me to go Wednesday at 330 to pick it up. The seamstress manager will be there and maybe she will have a better idea. I've been really upset all day but there's a big chance that it won't get fixed. Seeing as one of them had been doing this for over 20 years. I'll post pics later this week. I was too upset to take any today.

Is it just bunching in your lap area? You could always hide it with your bouquet while you sit. Not sure if that is an option? It might help for pictures at least. Nobody else would even see it, since you would be sitting up front.

Is your dress a fit and flare? I think it's pretty common with that silhouette. That fabric has to go somewhere when you sit. Unless you remove a lot of fabric it probably will do that, but removing it would change the dress a lot. Probably something no one will really notice except for you. Trena's idea would work nicely I think.

Yes, that's a good idea! I was thinking the same thing. I don't think it will stain it. I'm feeling better. We're getting married in 48 days bunches of fabric in my lap or not!

Mine bunched without me sitting. It was just the style of the dress I was so upset at first but quickly got over it. I don't even recoginze it in my pictures.

Yes, it is fit and flare trumpet style with lots of beading all down the front.

I felt bad over how bad I felt. My fiancé's parents are helping us plan the wedding and I felt bad that I was so down about it...

I agree with Trena -- just try holding your bouquet there when you sit. And also, would sitting up real straight help? I think my dress will be bunching, too. :-/

It's the type of dress you got, it's form fitting, it will bunch, but I WOULD work on your posture. A lot of the time that solves some bunching issues.

Working on posture as we speak. I'm not sure how long we are siting but assume that it's only for a little while. I'll also work out and wear spanks. Not sure if that will help but working out always helps me de stress. I don't think that I will get a different opinion at Davids on Wednesday so I need to figure out if I will get a second opinion from a seamstress or just move on.

Posture helps. Also, while sitting down at church, no one will be looking at your lap and you can always use your bouquet to hide it. It's like a PP said, the fabric has to go somewhere but I guarantee it's the kind of stuff only you will notice. And know something else? Moment you step into the church, you will forget all about the dress and the flowers and bunching or not.

Girl your dress is gorgeous on you! Stop being down! I promise you nobody will EVER notice it...whenever brides are sitting in church I always just think...aw how in love are they, I don't even really look at the dress much if they're not standing in it!

Thanks everyone. I def feel a lot better this morning about it. Even when I was super upset, I knew that it wouldn't matter at all on my wedding day but it mattered a lot yesterday.

I have a trumpet gown, and it bunches in the front when I sit down too. It doesn't really bother me. It looks perfect when I'm standing and most of my pictures will be standing. Ask your photographer, you would be amazed what the right angle can do for you. Try not to stress, I'm sure only you notice it. You are going to look beautiful!

Maybe I'm missing something here, you look extra gorge and I don't see an issue when you sit down.

I think it's beautiful and wouldn't worry about that little bit of bunching.
