*Update, page 2* Just need to vent, I was asked to stand in a wedding last night

I'm pretty frustrated still with a friend. She blew up last night and while I thought she would've appreciated my honesty she took it as me not prioritizing our friendship. I'm pretty frustrated still with a friend. She blew up last night and while I thought she would've appreciated my honesty she took it as me not prioritizing our friendship. We had a friend get engaged a few weeks ago who lives across the country. She ended up asking me to be a BM in her August 2016 wedding. I told her that I'd have to talk to FH about it to see if we can swing it since A) We're due in June so money will be a little tighter than we're used to while I'm on leave B) baby will be around 2 months old. I don't know how well driving or flying will go for a cross country trip C) She says they'll be having a kid free wedding. While I completely support a brides decision to opt for a kid free wedding I plan on nursing and won't be able to go for a long time span without either nursing or pumping and D) I just don't know that I'll feel up to it that soon after having a baby. I bounced back quickly with MaKyla, but every pregnancy/birth is different, and I'll also now be dealing

Yeah, I wouldn't waste anymore time that you have already on this. You have plenty of reasoning why it wouldn't be feasible for you to attend. At this point, you have explained the situation to her, she needs to grow up.

Ugh.. True colors have definitely been shown. Even if it is from the stress, she's completely irrational and it's not worth the battle. I'm glad you're levelheaded enough to realize that it is time to step out of the situation and be cordial. No major loss if she doesn't come back around. Your family is far more important.

    Wow.

How selfish of her! I mean...I get it. She doesn't want kids at the wedding, but what about making sure you're comfortable? I have friends who breastfed who would get SO uncomfortable if they couldn't feed their baby, or leave to pump...can we say leakage?

I definitely think you and FH are making the right call with just sending a gift. With all the stress that you're going through with your own wedding, and trying to move, and making sure that you take care of yourself during the pregnancy...you don't need to worry about it.

Sorry your friend is being this way. Smiley sad

I'm hoping that she comes around so that we can be a bit more than just civil with each other, but there is no way we'll be going now. Especially now that we've decided we do want to go ahead and buy a house next summer vs. waiting in our apartment for another year. FH has been pre-approved for the loan for a few weeks and we've just been starting to look around since we're willing to move out earlier than July if we find a house and close on it before then. We considered staying in our apartment for another year after we found out about the baby, or even moving to a 3 bedroom apartment but it just didn't make sense financially. With what he's been approved for our mortgage would be about the same that we're paying in rent now, whereas if we get a larger apartment we'll easily need to pay an extra $300 or more a month. So financially and logistically there really isn't a situation that I could see us making it to her wedding in August.

What a selfish little brat! Take care of your business and your babies. This girl needs a reality check.

Does the woman KNOW you plan on breastfeeding?

    Is she a mom?

Maybe she isn't being rude intentionally and just doesn't "get" it. If someone doesn't know anything about parenting, then it would totally make sense to be like, "OMG,w hat do you mean you can't find a babysitter with TEN MONTHS notice?"

I'm so sorry that your friend is acting like this. Especially weeks before your wedding. IMO you should be focusing on you right now as your big day is so close. Hopefully she will come around.

Wow...Jaklyn what is up with all the mean evil people in your life? Fuggggg....that really sucks. I can see if you were a guest trying to bring a newborn to a kid free wedding, but you are supposedly VIP.....that is just fucked up!

@PK I told her that I'd need to either leave to nurse or at least step out of the room to pump, so she knows that we'll be BF like we did the first time. She isn't a mom, however she used to nanny ( I know it's not the same) and would often comment about how she was surprised by how often babies that young would wake to eat, especially when she nannied a BF baby. So she knows to a certain extent what a newborn entails. I was mostly annoyed about the fact that she thought it was so that I could not be at her beck and call at a moments notice, or that I was somehow trying to show off the baby, especially since I'll only know her, her FH and her mom there had I gone.
