Unity ceremony...what are people doing??

What are people doing (if anything) for that portion of the ceremony where people typically light a unity candle or have mixing of different color sands? I pretty much only have the internet and TLCs "Four Weddings" to go off because I haven't been to a wedding in soooo long!

    We are skipping it! Can't find anything we love so we decided to skip it altogether.

    We did a sand ceremony with H two kids. Be careful with the frames if you go this route. The sand got clogged and when we lifted up the cylinder to unclog it, sand started pouring in front of the sand container and covering our picture. Lol! It was a nice thought though. H daughter was cracking up. Here's the before and after. I ended up switching out the picture with a wedding picture so it's all good now.
