Unique Covid Friendly Food Ideas for 20 person wedding?

Maggie, on January 7, 2021 at 6:42 PM Posted in Wedding Reception 0 12

Hi all!

I am trying to think of alternative food ideas for our wedding on April 3, 2021 in NJ. The ceremony and reception are going to be in a barn without access to a kitchen. We are only going to have about 20 people, including bride and groom. It would be great if I could find some type of individually packaged meals or something like that to make it very covid friendly. Has anyone done anything like this or have any ideas I could look into? Thanks!

The first thing that came to mind was individually wrapped sandwiches. Also, not sure if you are aware of this but New Jersey currently is only allowing 10 people indoors for wedding receptions so I would keep an eye on this to make sure you can have 20 people.

At my principle ordered us lunch from a local place and they were Individually boxed. It was super cute and easy to grab. Each box had a sandwich, chips, pasta salad, silverware, condiments, and a cookie. Literally everything we needed.
Not that you want to serve sandwiches, but I bet your caterer could do something similar.

Nearly all caterers offer corporate boxed lunches which is a sandwich or wrap with a side/salad or chips.

A lot of local restaurants are creating individual boxed meals for catering, at least by me in central NJ. I would reach out to local restaurants (and further support local economy) and see what they are offering.

Hi Maggie! If you go with a restaurant, perhaps they could use a dome cover like this. They may already have some or you could drop off your own and ask they use them upon delivery https://www.webstaurantstore.com/town-25276-7-1-2-stainless-steel-compote-dish-cover/88525276.html?utm_source=google&utm_medium=cpc&utm_campaign=GoogleShopping&gclid=CjwKCAiA_9r_BRBZEiwAHZ_v12vr0YRM_Fud1AYVIpo30lRTght4OIrKtmMjveHXB68obqqpiXDh3RoClYAQAvD_BwE

I’m getting married in NJ and current restriction is 25% capacity, weddings and a few other events are exempt for the 10 person limit

Not sure where you are getting this information, but my husband's family and friends live in Jersey and based on what have said the 25% capacity limit is only for the ceremony. The 10 person limit is for the reception. One of his friends just got engaged and they plan on getting married in Jersey. I also looked it up to confirm that's exactly what it says online pertaining to indoor weddings.

Restaurant takeout. Cupcakes instead of cutting a cake.

Hopefully by April the rules change. My husband's family and friends have said the governor has made some crazy rules.
