Yesterday I had my makeup trial done at my house. The MUA was referred by a cousin of mine who used her for her daughter's prom last year. Her makeup was beautiful!

I showed the MUA pics of what I liked....kind of the Carrie Underwood look. I also told her that my hubby prefers more natural looks for me and I do wear makeup on a daily basis so I want to look different fromt day-to-day but not overdone.

The MUA mentioned using plum. I told her that plum is actually one of my wedding colors so she went with it. When I saw the finished product I thought it was too much but I figured it was only because I wasn't used to it. I had a totally dark eye...plum and a smoked grey. When my hubby got home and saw me, he actually thought I was playing a joke on him! Needless to say....hw didn't like it and I knew he wouldn't cause he prefers less. I want him to like the way I look on OUR day!

I'm torn....do I look for a new MUA? Or call her and say I didn't like it?

This exact thing happened to me. Be up front with her. Schedule another trial - she should do it for free. Get her to start with a subtle look and slowly add more and more smokyness so you are comfortable with how it looks. I agree the pics look good, but you want to feel like yourself on the day! If you are getting a fright every time you look in the mirror (which was how I felt), then something is not right.

I would call her and give her the chance to do something else. Plum is pretty dark so I'm not surprised it turned into a smokey eye. I'm sure she would do another trial for you.

Plum is not natural at all. Other than how dramatic and dark the eyes are (they do look gorgeous btw) you look great! I would suggest just going with a lighter eye color that compliments plum, shades of brown do that very well.

Plum is a dramatic color in makeup. I would tell her you would like a softer eye and leave it at that. Your makeup looks great and it definitely doesn't look like too much.

Don't ditch the artist. She did give you a Carrie Underwood look with a plum shadow and it looks really great. It also should be what you're wanting though, don't be afraid to speak up so that she can do that for you. Tell her that you're looking for a much lighter eye and you realized that you just didn't feel as much like "yourself" as you want to be. Update us on trial 2 when it happens!

I had the same issue. No big deal. 2 days ago, which was 3 days before the wedding, I did another trial and LOVED it. I told her what I liked and didnt like from the first trial and it all got fixed.

I think that the MU is really pretty. Your FH was probably just shocked because it was different from what you normally wear.

Hi Everyone!
Well my wedding was on Sunday and it was such a gorgeous day and thankfully, everything was perfect!
As far as my makeup goes, I ended up having my step-sister do it for me! She does makeup however, I didn't want to ask her cause I knew that everyone else in the family had asked her to their makeup. She ended up offering when she saw that I was unhappy with yet a SECOND trial! When my sister did my trial, I loved it right away! I knew I would cause she knows me and my style. A couple of you had asked me to post a follow up so I have attached a couple of pics. Its always hard with these camera phones but I am sure you all get the idea!
