Since it is at a family home, it makes me more nervous, FHs family could get in a lot of trouble if something were to happen. How would you address the issue? I'm going to tell my cousins, no drinking! But that might not completely stop them. Should I tell the bartender who they are and not to serve them drinks, and my even coordinator to watch them? I don't want to seem crazy, but I don't want something to happen and us get in trouble for it.

What can you do if someone else who is over 21 gets them a drink and gives it to them?

Personally, I would get a family member to keep an eye on them. I once went over to my ex husband's cousin and his girlfriend and took away the beer they were sharing at a family picnic. I said "hand it over" when I got attitude I asked if he wanted me to go tell his mother....and trust me...he DID not! They were both 15 at the time.

You could also speak privately to the kids' parents, let them know you're worried, and that you'll be asking anyone underage caught drinking to leave. Hopefully parents will be able to keep an eye on the their kids.

Let your bartender know who is under 21 and have different cups for the bar and the soft drinks. Let the under aged guests know if you see them drinking from a bar cup they will be asked to leave.

Let the bartender know who the underagers are. I went to my cousins wedding when I was 18 (drinking age is 19 here) and my uncle supplied my drinks all night. You might be surprised at who will provide the drinks for them.

Make sure you drill into the underage ones that if they get caught drinking by someone from the venue your wedding could get shut down.

Have these kids never been in a place where alcohol was served? Do they have a habit of scheming drinks from someone? Are they misfits who would smuggle booze in front of their parents?

Also, if their parents are there and their parents allow it, isn't that ok? What are the laws in your state?

A thought like this never crossed my mind for my wedding. I assumed their parents would be watching them.

This is waaaaay overthinking it. Just tell your bartender to card the guests. Story over.

In my state, you cannot drink if you are under the age of 21. I rather be safe than sorry, and no their parents will not be there.

I have to say there was only one wedding I went to where I was carded and it was the most annoying thing ever, there were only two girls there that were under 21 but the brides mom said to card all of us, and carded us each time we went up instead if just paying attention to who had been up there before.

If there are only two people under 21 let the bartender know and tell the parents to keep an eye on their kids and be done with it.

It really should be up to the parents to keep an eye on the underage ones and let them know what is appropriate. If you really think that these teens will sneak drinks and get sloppy then don't invite them.

You might want to check. Your family might not get into that much trouble because they are over 18. Unless an officer sees them drink it, it can be written off that they arrived drunk or something else. They would probably face the consequences alone.

If they're responsible kids, I would just explain the consequences to them and talk to your bartender and leave it at that.. you don't even know if they drink. I didn't try alcohol until I was 19 and visiting an area where the drinking age was 18, and all my "underage drinking" involved me having a glass of wine with a friend (that her cop dad let her bring to school) when we were 20.

If there's a history or some reason that you're particularly worried, maybe mention it to the parents and other family members who will be around so they can keep an eye out. I'm still uncomfortable drinking around my grandmother and I'm 25!

It's pretty lame that the drinking age in the states is so old. I wouldn't worry so much. Tell the bartender etc. No big deal.

Some states allow underage drinking under certain conditions. I'd look into it for your state
