Under Table Lighting

Aussie Bride, on December 29, 2009 at 4:46 PM Posted in Planning 0 17

Im wondering if anyone knows where I can get affordable under table lighting. Our venue has long rectangular tables and free white table clothes to use so I thought if I got under table blue lighting it would really set everything off since I can have the lights dimmed. I only have a month left so please help

Check into renting these, they are not inexpensive to purchase. Local florists and decorating companies would be a good place to start.

Check with DJs and entertainment businesses in your wedding city. Are you having a dj?

I've been looking into EL Wire. It's pretty affordable and battery operated (no extension cords!) so it can go anywhere. It's very bright, can show through material quite well and up to 30 feet can run off of one pack.

If you have one call your local music store or guitar center. This is where most DJ's get there stuff. Maybe a few of these places might have a few LED lights they may rent to you.

Always go with LED if they are going under tables other wise they may get hot.

We just use icicle lights, we have them in blue...I know that doesn't help you...LOL! But they are available. It depends on the look you are going for. You mentioned that the venue is supplying table cloths, do they also have table skirts? If not I would look into getting them, they really finish off the look of your specialty tables (bridal, cake, gift, etc.)

An experienced DJ or lighting vendor can supply you with this type of lighting. It's referred to as "uplighting" fixtures. The battery LED fixtures are very rare currently because they cost over $600 each. You may be able to find a company who rents them, but expect to pay at least $100 for each fixture you rent.

A skilled DJ can supply uplighting fixtures that are computer controlled for $40 to $50 for each fixture, and you can choose from 16 million colors if the operator is trained in programming these fixtures. There will, however, be two cables running to each fixture in this scenario. Make sure if you go this route, that the operator carefully gaff tapes the cables down.

If done correctly, it can have a spectacular look. Google "uplighting" to see some pictures.

Under table lighting is a great add-on to the linen rentals for any event and can easily lift up the mood and the grace of any occasion. However, the LED color should be handpicked to suit the setting and the theme. I did a lot of research before I came across the LED under table lighting product offered by Sculptware. USP of their product is that these lights are easy to install and come in a wide range of colors to make sure that you have the right lights resulting in the aura that you want.
