Unconventional Wedding

Jennifer, on September 12, 2019 at 12:12 PM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 15

Sooo I am getting judge pretty hard for my wedding date and how I wish to get married. I have decided to get married July 4th. I also have decided we are going to have reception at 7 eat drink and at dusk get married then go back to party as husband and wife. The DJ was like ummm how do you want me to do this. Its simple not married and then married. As far as the date its my favorite family holiday and we are becoming blended family (Brady Bunch) that day and I know we will always have our kids and family around us that day to celebrate our love. We have a great venue that has indoor and out door space for us to entertain in. We have the whole space all day.

I need help finding a casual but appropriate wedding dress to start the evening with as I already have a very formal dress to get married in. Yes we are doing the sparkler thing lol

I would look up reception dresses. Typically people who wear two dresses wear the more casual dress for the reception, yours will just be before the ceremony. You could also try stores that aren't necessarily bridal shops like Nordstrom or Lulu's.

Go with a slinky form fitting dress. You can find affordable ones practically everywhere. You can look for beach/destination/reception/vow renewal wedding dresses to find that style of dress.

I would suggest looking for "semi-formal" dresses. Try Macy's, Nordstrom or even Amazon for a dress.

I love your idea! I'm not big on traditional weddings so I think yours sounds like fun. Plus will be great to watch fireworks afterwards. As for a different dress, I would pick something lightweight and easy to dance in.

I think this sounds fun and unique. I agree that a reception dress sounds like the way to go, and I would recommend dresses that are easier to get in and out of. You can expand your search beyond bridal boutiques too with more success than if you were hunting a traditional wedding gown.

Something about 4th of July wedding screams 50's tea length dress.

All these dresses are from Unique Vintage and are definitely under $200.

Ross has been my go to for all my wedding event dresses, my reception dress included! I didn't even plan on having a reception dress, until I saw it on the rack, on sale for $20 and the fit was perfect and had to have it.

Yes fireworks while getting married is the idea! Our children are so very excited. If people cant come to wedding due to it being a holiday we understand.

My cousin did this sort of! They had cocktail hour before the wedding, then the ceremony then a late dinner and dancing. It was different, but it's good to be different!
