Uncommon questions for venues

Marlena, on October 5, 2019 at 1:21 PM Posted in Planning 0 6

Hi, Everyone!

I am just starting to make appointments to tour some venues and I was wondering what are some questions you thought to ask that you didn't find on an online list or other forum?

I feel like I have all of the basic questions down but if anyone has any input on things they thought of in the moment or later that would be great!

One thing we didn’t think about til later that would apply if you are having an outdoor ceremony was asking about the sound for outside. I assumed they would have a microphone or speaker or something but they don’t so that is something we have to have our band handle now.

I haven't even begun to think about music and sound for the ceremony. We are also thinking of an outdoor ceremony so definitely something I will add to my list!

Weight limit of the \_s (it was 400 lbs).

The Venue Rep said that no one had ever asked that.

I just didn’t want to have to replace one of their \_s. We could bring some if need be to accommodate those that might break one.

If you’re planning for an outdoor ceremony, ask about their backup plan in case of bad weather. Also ask about their cancellation policies! Not saying you and FH will have problems, but other situations may arise to cause you to have to reschedule or cancel your date. Always good info to know. Ask what comes with the venue (tables, chairs, linens, chargers, dinner plates, utensils, etc). Ask about outlets for dj equipment/bands, as they will want to know what set ups your venue has available to them and make sure they can support their equipment.

What is your contingency plan if it rains?
    What comes in your package?
Do you require a day of coordinator?
What is the min and max guest amount?
    What extras do they allow?
Do they require you hire their vendors or others?
What are the payment options? Cash only? Deposit? All due day of? 30 days out?
Do they cater? If so, can you hire someone else? If not, can you try the food BEFORE you hire them? When? (NOT 90-30 days out)
