uhhhtohhh RSVP stamp problem....what did you do??

Kirst, on May 29, 2012 at 2:26 PM Posted in Planning 0 19

So my RSVPs are basically a postcard. I went to the post office today to check on the stamps I'd need to use. I thought, maybe wishful thinking, that a postcard would be less. The lady told me its normal stamps, so I bought what I thought are the normal typical stamps, 45 cents and they just have 2 white roses & say forever on them.

these

Now my sister is telling me I should have bought "first class" stamps...

What is the difference?!

Do I need to go buy 1st class?

idk what the forever roses are 1st class or priority LoL again no idea what the difference is...can anyone help? What did you do??

I got regular stamps. It's all preference and if you didn't know about first class stamps, it was probably not a huge deal. I would just let it be.

45 cent stamps are first class stamps, I think. You're fine, my friend did post cards with regular stamps, and has been getting her RSVPs without a problem.

I would go to another post office and get a second opinion about the postage. It doesn't make sense to me that you should have to pay full price for a postcard unless it's an odd size or shape.

One post office weighed and metered our invitations at .84. Another post office weighed and metered them at .64. Always good to get a second opinion!!!

I agree with Kris on checking not only the rsvps twice but your invites also. I had mine checked before I addressed all of them and then right before I mailed them I had them checked again at a different post office. THEN I stamped them and sent them out. The last thing you want is to end up with a bunch or returned invites with writing all over them.

As long as your postcard is not square, and is less than 4 inches in height, and less than 6 wide, it should be the standard postcard postage, now 35 cents, I think?? They have Aloha Shirts on them.

As for the First Class vs. Forever stamps, it does not matter for mailing them. The forever stamps are made so that you can purchase them at the increased rate BEFORE the rate increase, which already took place. They should be fine/they ARE first class postage.

Here is where you can find info about the postcard dimensions

I also did RSVP postcards, BTW they worked awesome more people sent theirs back in because they didn’t have to do the extra work of putting it in a little envelope and sealing it.

But I only paid 35 cents for the post card stamps.

Its a 10 cents difference but it adds up

I bought my rsvp postcard stamps through zazzle. i really didnt want the 35 cent aloha shirts. But, after spending the extra money on the 35 cent zazzle stamps, I might as well have bought the 45 cent stamps.

I didnt read the other comments, but there is nothing wrong with those stamps. I used them for both my Save The Dates and wedding invites/RSVPs

Im laughing now bc my parents got a "post card" STD and it had the aloha tee on it I thought to myself how odd, why didn't they pick a "wedding theme" stamp...lol....now I know thats 35 cents LOL

I did the 45 cent ones with the forever and 2 white roses on the rsvp post card

i sent out the 1st batch of invites during lunch & bought enough stamps for the rest, theyre the wedding cake; 65 cents! cute though

We used the wedding cake stamps too! Smiley smile

For our RSVPs we used the bonsai stamps. The colors are so pretty!

I have a mild obsession with stationery and the post office. Smiley smile

I've already giggled over the aloha postcard stamps. I used them because I couldn't afford custom ones and didn't want to spend the extra 10 cents for first class letters. Oh well. Smiley smile

I dont blame you Merfy Lou...if everyone is smarter then I am they will know its due to the cost of the postcard stamp lol. my "post cards" are 3 peices of 80 lb card stock spray glued together so they are technically NOT a postcard and weight more then one so i had to go with the 45 centers. which i dont mind, had they been able to use the 35 n i messed up and bought 45 id be a little ticked
