Uber/Lyft for the wedding party the day of?

Future Mrs M, on October 30, 2017 at 1:13 PM Posted in Planning 0 8

We have gotten a few quotes for limos/party buses and for what we need it just does not work price wise. We are staying in a Manor in town and everything is pretty close.

We will need a transport for:

Manor -> Ceremony

Ceremony -> Manor (photos)

Manor -> Reception

Reception -> Manor

The wedding party are the only ones needing the transport, along with their dates. That is 13 people.

The issue with the limo/party bus is during the reception I would still have to pay for the vehicle, to sit and wait.. adding about 4-5 hours.

I have never done a scheduled service to request SUVs or anything and did not know if anyone has and has any experiences they could share?

Also, Yes, everyone could drive.. but staying together is much easier, and def the way to go for us.

    Is the limo/party bus so outrageous a price that it would be SIGNIFICANTLY cheaper to do Uber or Lyft for the night? Taking into account multiple vehicles for everyone at these 4 different times you need?

    Honestly I'd be up for paying extra for the convenience of transportation. I'd be kind of stressed as a member of the bridal party to request an Uber 4 times during the day...

    We used Uber for our transportation but it was really only 2 rides- -WP to the venue and then all of us home to hotels/apartments. totally agree with @Elizabeth that the stress of coordinating multiple Uber rides is going to be super stressful for you and/or your WP. you might want to consider just paying a little bit more for a decision that's going to make your lives easier.

    Well, you can pre schedule rides. So if we did that's what we would do.

    The limo service would be 1100. Uber rides would be about 175-200.

    Have you considered just having everyone carpool? I know you said you don't want to everyone to drive themselves, but if you have some WP members drive and the rest carpool, you can keep everyone together. If you're worried about them drinking at the reception, you can ask your venue to allow them to park overnight and have people Uber back to the manor at the end of the night. That's only 1 Uber ride with no specific time deadline, so a lot less stressful.

    It won't really be faster to have everyone split up in ubers vs split up driving themselves, so if that's your only reason I'd just have them drive.

    No, drinking was my concern. Was just trying to simplify things for the party.

    Do you have a friend or someone willing to drive for a small expense? If you are really trying to keep everyone together have you thought about renting a van? I have see school bus rentals but I honestly never looked into it or know how much it would be. Just some ideas Smiley smile

    My Ceremony and Reception are located at the same place so I am ordering an uber just from the hotel to the venue! And I think it will save a ton of money Smiley smile
