UBER for Wedding

Mrs. G2B, on August 23, 2015 at 6:36 PM Posted in Planning 0 18

Toying with the idea of using Uber for some of our transportation (Uber XL of course) and want to hear from brides who chose to use it.

Our reception may very well be on a military base and we will more than likely have the wedding party to park their cars there and we'll carpool (or find a way) back to the ceremony location before the wedding. I absolutely cannot stand limousines and the way they look.

Thoughts? Experiences?

I intend to get a custom code for our guests as well coming from out of town for the wedding.

I'm curious about this myself. Didn't know you could get a custom code.

I know a few of my guests have already planned on using uber, i think that the code that you give out gets $20 off of the 1st ride. that would mean that people who have used uber before would not be able to get the discount. At least thats the way i understand it, i could be wrong. i just saw a style me pretty promotion with uber where you could use the code "PRETTY" and get a discount.

I'd check that Uber will be able to get on the base. Some are far more strict than others.

You could also rent some type of shuttle - you'd probably be way more comfortable.

SUCH a good idea. I don't have transportation for my bridesmaids from where we are getting ready to the ceremony and then from the ceremony to the reception. Uber is SUCH a good idea.

I would be careful about planning on using Uber. There have been a lot of lawsuits and new regulations of Uber. Two years from now things could be very different.

We hired a shuttle bus from a transportation company. That is another alternative to a limo.

Biggest problem I have with Uber is the insurance policies. They are not required to have full coverage insurance or any type of insurance that covers the riders. That's how they keep their prices so low. God forbid something happen between your pickup location and ceremony location.

Isn't it impossible to guarantee uber availability ahead of time? That would worry me.

I'm using Uber (black car) to travel the day of the wedding. Will spend under $100 vs. thousands for a limo. I think hammers and limos are a bit cheesy.

I wish we could use Uber for our wedding but unfortunately Fort Lauderdale no longer allows Uber. So we have to look into other options to get to the ceremony/reception site.

So I reached out to Uber and they can definitely do a code for you.

I'm not necessarily worried about the availability because of the section of the city we're getting married in and it would literally only be a couple of cars for the wedding party. My FH and I are currently moonlighting as Uber drivers to subsidize wedding costs and he sort of understands traffic patterns of the city.

I'm curious about how the experience was for some.

    Thanks so much ladies!

I'm opting not to do a limo because it's virtually no where for them to park.
