Two wedding dresses

Hi everyone,
So I can say that I never was a girl who thought much about my wedding dress. However when Vera wang released the black collection i was obsessed with some of those gowns. Now that I am getting married, I definitely need to figure it out. I don’t tend to like white on me, so I think traditional wedding gowns underwhelm me. I went to Vera wang in LA and had a great time but honesty the white or ivory gowns didn’t do much for me, and those have a hefty price tag. When the associate brought out the Josephine in black I about yelled in delight. I loved it but of course wearing black on my wedding day will likely raise some eyebrows. My fiancé is not crazy about the idea and his parents are very traditional.
So the black Vera wang dress is 3k cheaper than the white one I liked but did not love. I found a much cheaper white dress that I like from the Vera wang white line (on clearance and 10% off) that I could wear for the ceremony and then wear my black dress at the reception venue. This would be 2k cheaper with two dresses compared to the one that I only like. That way I can make some people happy during the ceremony and wear what I truly want at my reception and take the majority of photos in that dress. Don’t get me wrong, I like the white dress enough from both the main line and white line or would t even consider doing it, but my heart is really with the black dress. What do you guys think?

I think two dresses is a great idea as long as you feel comfortable wearing the white one for the ceremony and you're not just doing it to avoid glares and snarky comments about a black one. If having one as a ceremony dress and the other as a reception dress makes you happy, do it!

I'm wearing a black wedding dress because I fell in love with it and felt absolutely beautiful. People have offered opinions, including family but at the end of the day it's my day and I choose happiness. Dont allow others to change your vision for your day, their traditions are theirs not yours. Everywhere else in the world, brides wear color on their wedding day. Wear what you feel the most beautiful and confident in and ROCK it!!!😉

I think this sounds like a good idea! Just make sure that you do actually like the white dress haha. It's okay if you don't like the white one as much as the black one, but you still need to be comfortable and happy during your ceremony too!!

I think this sounds like a great idea, and a great compromise since FH doesn’t seem thrilled about only black. It’s your day, so do what makes you happy! You’ll have great photo variety with two dresses too.

I second all of this! Choose to make yourself happy vs trying to please everyone else!

Thanks everyone. I will definitely choose a white dress I can be happy in for ceremony, but I know if the black one isn’t part of the day I would be disappointed. I figure it is a compromise that I am mainly doing for FH- bc if he was fully on board with the black one, I wouldn’t care as much about others. Some of the white dresses have been beautiful on me, but none of them quite feels like me once I go home and look at the pictures. They just don’t have a wow factor.
