Two Wedding Dresses - covid Bride

Lynn, on August 17, 2020 at 6:19 PM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 8

Hi,

TIA for reading this and your advice!

We postponed and then cancelled our 2020 wedding. We are planning on a 2022 wedding in the near future.

I was able to secure my photographer for an elopement adventure shoot and minimony instead. The minimony is in 3 weeks in the backyard with 20 close friends and fam and adventure shoot is on our postponed date, 10.10 will just be us and the photographer. I'm not stuck on getting married/doing something on certain dates. I'm more of a go with a flow person.

Originally for my 2020 wedding, I planned on Vera Wang and a change for reception in a jumpsuit. Now that i'm doing an adventure shoot, I ended up buying a more flowy dress. It cost me $100 so i couldn't resist. Also scored my Vera wang at a sample sale for $300. I've had 3 years to plan this wedding and now I have to wait another two...Note that we did get legally married when COVID hit in March for insurance coverage.

He's been waiting/dying to see my dress and I mean so am I... so just to make the best out of all the entire situation!

My mom is also telling me it's bad voodoo if I have two wedding dresses... we've been together for 9 years at this point, I am not a superstition person so this doesn't really affect me but open to hear some feedback.

Here are the options i'm going through my head, you'll see the dresses are completely different!

Option 1:

Minimony - Wear Vera Wang

Elopement - Flowly

Wedding: Enter Ceremony with Flowly then change to Vera for first dance then change for party outfit Jumpsuit

Option 2:

Minimony - Jumpsuit or LWD w/ Veil

Elopement - Flowly (sell/donate dress)

Wedding: Vera + Jumpsuit

Option 3:

Minimony - Vera

Elopement: Flowly

Wedding: Vera + Jumpsuit

I think either option 2 or 3. I just think that having 3 outfit changes for your wedding would take away time from your guests!

I would just stick with one dress, the one you love the most and save the jumpsuit for your rehearsal dinner or some other occasion. No reason to have so many outfit changes

I've never heard that superstition before. I say Option 3 because I think a flowy dress will look great in an adventure photoshoot, and changing that many times is a lot and you could better spend that time enjoying the fun!

Is there one outfit you love more than the others? Total personal opinion, but I hate dress changes! I understand the reasoning of changing for comfort, but I believe every bride has that one dress that is absolutely perfect for her! Every dress change I've seen has just resulted in people saying "oh I wish she didn't change, her other dress was gorgeous on her!". Of course, if you feel strongly about all of your outfits, you should go for it. But definitely stop and think if there's a favorite before you make a decision!

    I like option 3!

Option 1 has entirely too many outfit changes at the wedding.

I am in favor of option 3 but it's ultimately up to you and what you feel comfortable with! Option one might be a lot of changing during the wedding. Then option two could work too!!

I do think that having 3 outfits for your wedding would take time away and you might not want to do that... but I see nothing wrong with changing once! You can always wear one dress, whichever you originally had your heart set on, for the minimony and wear the same for the photo shoot.
