Two Maids of Honor?!

Anna , on January 21, 2014 at 3:48 PM Posted in Etiquette and Advice 0 27

Help! Okay so there are two best friends I want to each be my MOH. We have been friends since we were 4 (we are all now 23 and 24). We were the trio of the neighborhood, we did everything together.

I can't imagine not having them both and there is absolutely no way I could pick between the two. They each have their own strengths and weaknesses and make up for where the other lacks.

Has anyone ever had, or is having 2 MOHs?!?! How did it go?

Thanks Smiley smile

I was 1 of 2 MOH and it was great. I was responsible for the bridal shower and she was responsible for the reception. We both ran the day-of schedule with each side of the families.

it worked out great! I could not have afforded to do both. She was in Seattle so she brought things that were tough to get here on island, and I organized things here where the wedding was since she couldn't.

I'm having two MOHs, my mom and my sister. If the two get along, as it sounds like these two do, it should go smoothly. I don't see any reason to pick one over the other, and I'm sure they can coordinate on your shower and bachelorette party.

I was one of 3 Brisesmaid got a bride who didn't have a "MoH" she just delegated tasks between us and it worked fine.

I'm having 3 bridesmaid and one will give a speech the other will organize events. Works well with their strength

I'm having both my sisters be my maid/matron of honor and so far it's been okay!! I think it's forced them to get along!

I had two MOHs, my sister and my best friend and only one BM. Really, it didn't make anything that much different.. they were just titles.

My BFF planned the bachelorette party, but even if she wasn't MOH that would have always been something better planned by her than by my shy sister.

My sister (and mom and grandma) planned my shower, but again, even without the MOH titles, I think my family would have still planned the shower.

(And my husbands "best man" was a woman. Really, you can do whatever you want with your wedding party!)

I am having a Maid of Honor and a matron of honor (my youngest sister and my oldest sister!) Everyone is planning everything because that is a lot to put on one or two people! Plus, I will have 2 minors in my group! I am sure everything will work out beautifully! If you want them both, then have them both! Smiley smile

I'm having two MOH's. Initially, I truly could not decide between my two best friends - Kelsey and Kendra and I literally flipped a coin to figure it out (Kendra was my MOH). By three weeks into planning I couldn't stand it and I sent them both a message that I couldn't get married without them both being my maid of honor. They love the idea and I'm very happy. I didn't have to chose and it will make everything more affordable and easier to delegate with two. I have 4 BM and 2 MOH.

I'm glad someone else has/is doing it because I hadn't heard of it before either. I thought people would think it's odd, but I don't give a damn.

I have 2 MOHs. I couldn't decide between my sister and my best friend of 13 years, so I made them both MOH. It's been really helpful especially because my sister is in college and isn't always around to help out with wedding-related things. I would say that my friend has been a bigger help overall, but my sister has done as much as she can while in school.

Would both of them stand at the altar is that allowed? And would it look weird if your FH only has 1 bestman?

I have a Maid of Honor and Matron of Honor, my niece and my sister. Matron is for a married woman. This way there are 2 people that can help deal with extras involving the wedding so the bride doesn't get overwhelmed. But it is going great having both.

We only have 1 best man also because FH can't decide on a 2nd.

I am thinking of doing a Maid of Honor and a Matron of Honor. Should they both do a speech, or give it together?

I had my 2 sisters both be MoH. It worked out fine, we've always been close, and one was in town before the other so that helped with planning. They both got jobs just for them and it was awesome.

You can totally have to MOHs, especially if they work well together. You can even have no MOH. Do what works for you.

YES! Do it! As long as they both realize they're equals and there is no power struggle. I have a Maid of Honor and a Matron of Honor. I love them both and am so glad with my decision.

I am extremely non-traditional, and I essentially have THREE MOH's. My two sisters had to be MOHs because... they are my sisters. But my best friend ALSO had to be a MOH, because she is my best friend!! I could not in any way, shape, or form choose between the three of them, so they all will be my Maids/matrons of honor. My other 3 bridal party members- 2 bridesmaids and a bridesman- totally understand, and are happy with it.... and what it comes down to is- it is YOUR day, do it how YOU Want to do it

I couldn't possibly put one of my girls above the other, so my daughter will be a Junior MOH, My best friend will be the MOH, and I will have 2 Matron of Honors. I'm not very traditional though, but who cares!
