Two Guest Books?

FutureMrsCarlstad, on March 29, 2016 at 5:50 PM Posted in Planning 0 22

We are having a photobooth company come in for our reception. They will provide a complimentary scrapbook for photostrips (the machine prints two). I had planned on using this as my guest book! My mom, however, mentioned that not everyone would want to do that or some might only go to the ceremony. Should I have two guest books? If I was to do a second one, I would make a photo book with our engagement pictures.

I think that would be too much. Just do one. I would be less likely to do the photo strip one because i would think "didn't I just do this?" and I would keep both strips anyways.

I wouldn't do two. If people only come to the ceremony, oh well. There's no guarantee everyone will sign either.

Hmm, I've never really considered that photobooth thing a guest book, but I guess it could be. I usually just write something stupid because at that point, let's be honest... I've had a few.

I am doing two. One is a guestbook with our engagement photos for guests to sign as they arrive and write messages. Another is a big wooden monogram where all of the guests can sign their names. If you want to do one traditional and one modern new idea, I say go with it!

I wouldn't really consider the photobooth book a guestbook honestly. Not everyone uses the photobooth, and so not everyone would show up in that book, it's more just for fun. I'm going to have a traditional guestbook laid out, and then collect the photobooth strips as an extra keepsake, but don't expect my guests to do anything above and beyond taking their pictures.

I don't consider the photobooth thing a guest book either, because you can go as many times as you like and you can write something for each one, plus you're with a huge group. It's just a different animal.

@originalLaura usually they have an attendant so they glue one down in the book for you!

We went to a wedding where the bride did a photo book with the photo booth as guest book #1, a thumb print tree guest book #2, and a photo book from Snapfish as guest book #3. It confused guests and took a long time. I would pick one and stick with it. I would suggest just keeping the photos as keepsakes and stick to a more traditional one instead if doing 2.

My cousin did a guestbook at the wedding and then they wanted everyone to do a quilt patch at the reception. No one even knew about the quilt patch because they already did the guest book.

With that said, I think the bride of the wedding I'm going to this weekend is doing what you are doing.

I would just do one. Most people will sign your guestbook at the ceremony. It's confusing to do more than one.

Wait, people have guestbooks at their ceremony?!

    I've never seen that before.

Ohhhh, then I wouldn't even do it. My FH and I are children and would each want a copy haha

I just don't get the whole Photo Booth craze. Do both, then just don't be mad when people don't write in one or either.

What would you do with the traditional guest book anyways?

I think we are doing a cookbook, at least we will use it a couple times haha

I have a photo booth and we want to have the pictures go into the guest book but the photo booth won't be ready to go until right after dinner so I'm worried no one is going to do it or the people who don't want to do the photo booth won't sign it at all. I was thinking about having a regular guest book at the ceremony and cocktail hour and then having the photo booth one be a scrap book.

I'm having a PhotoBooth, but I'm not considering that my guestbook. I do have two guestbooks though - one where they only sign their names on a wooden heart and a book with engagement pictures where they can write a note if they wish. Smiley smile

I thought about this too. Decided against two because all they will do is gather dust. The same people who wouldn't do the photobooth probably wouldn't sign the other guest book anyway.

    I'd go for just one.

We're planning on a photobooth but I'm not using it as a guest book. My mom quilts and volunteered to make a quilt for us if we do quilt squares, so that's the plan!

Thanks everyone! I think I will just do the engagement picture guest book and save the photo booth for fun!!

I'm doing the normal guestbook as people enter the ceremony and then the photobooth book at the reception. I know a lot of people won't do the photos, so I want to be sure and catch everyone who is there.

I don't consider the photo booth book as a guest book. I am having a guest "jar" like a message in a bottle. I think of the photo booth book as an extra surprise if people so choose to participate in it.

I guess I technically have 2 as well. There photobooth scarp book that they make was originally all I wanted to do because I didn't want a "traditional" guest book and figure I would just use that. Then my mom, the etsy lover that she is, found this picture frame type thing. It looks like a chalkboard and has a picture frame on it where Our picture will be. It says our names at the top and people will be able to write on the chalk board portion. She thought it was too cute not to have. I'm assuming the photobooth one will have more goofy things written on it since it won't be set up until after dinner and people will be drinking. The first one will be set up for when guests enter the reception.
