Two Groomsmen Bailed...Wow

Jessica, on February 14, 2012 at 1:52 PM Posted in Planning 0 27

FH just informed me that two of his groomsmen will not be able to come to the wedding on account of them booking a cruise that wont be back until the day after the wedding.

I am seriously ticked right now! Why would they do something like that?

Now FH is down to 2 groomsmen while I still have 4 bridesmaids.

I have no idea what to do.

WHAT?!!?! Almost a month out and they do that?!?! F***ed up........

Not cool. Do nothing. Go on with your plans. Not a big deal, except if I were FH, I'd be extremely upset. Those are supposed to be his friends.

He says there's no point in getting mad at them. I think really? They bail a month before the wedding! They KNEW since the day we got engaged that they would be in it. They couldn't wait for this stupid cruise?

    Whatever.

    Some friends.

Oh my gosh.........Eeesh, your FH seems like quite the pushover. I can understand he doesn't want drama but, haven't the tuxes/suits been ordered? Have gifts been purchased?

I am sorry. :-( As for what to do, have each of your remaining GM walk two BMs down the Isle, or alternate *girl* couple *girl* couple. You don't need to have it even.

That is really messed up Smiley sad sorry...

But yeah, you can either have two guys walk each girl, have two girls walk by themselves, or have everyone walk by themselves (I've seen that done a lot for uneven parties).

Silly Boys. They don't think about these things.

Pick your battles. Yes it sucks, but 20 years from now it won't matter.

@Jamie: The tuxes have been fitted but not ordered. And fortunately he hasn't got the gifts just yet. He was actually just about to.

FH is such a nice guy that people do tend to walk all over him. He says he doesn't see the point in getting mad over. Doesn't change anything.

And all that matters is that he'll be marrying me. Who's beside him is irrelevant in his eyes.

Luckily. I think we have found one replacement.

    Haha.

It still just amazes me how some people can be.

Are any of your BM's sisters of your FH, by chance? 2 of our would-be groomsmen are my brothers, so we moved them over to my side since FH had 2 more guys than I had girls...now the sides are even and my brothers get to be on my side, which I kinda like. Tons of people are having uneven/non-traditional attendant arrangements these days--do whatever makes you happy!

Oooh!!! I AM SO mad for you!!

some people!! That's so annoying! They really don't understand the honor of being asked to be a member (not simply a guest) of someones wedding.

    Their loss

But if you don't find replacements, two BM to 1 GM

Wow....i am so sorry. Maybe it is a good thing your FH is so laid back about it. If it were my FH i would never hear the end of it and neither would his probably ex friends. Hope it all works out for you. Look at the bright side....2 less gifts you have to pay for.

WoW people can be so inconsiderate ESPECIALLY people that are suppose to be his friends. I think the best thing to do is have each groomsmen walk two bridesmaids. & Krista is right...bright side is that you have two less gifts to worry about

The groomsmen love it when they have a pretty woman on each arm! I've seen them actually strutting!

When did they book this cruise? was it a while before? or something recently.. if its recent after they knew your wedding date then I would be seriously pissed off right now!!! Now if they booked the cruise before, then you can not really blame them..

now to kind of fixed the issue right now, can you get someone else to replace them? or have 2 GM walk with 1 BM & same with the other.... Good Luck!!

They knew since the day we got engaged they were in the wedding. They had booked the cruise in advanced but they were supposed to be back on the 22nd. Then yesterday they informed FH that they "upgraded" and now they wont be back till the day after the wedding.

Seriously? They didn't have to upgrade. But whatever.

We think we have found a replacement, but he's not the most trustworthy guy in the world.

So I guess I'm going to have to deal with my OCD of wanting things just right and let two girls walk with one guy.

As long as we have the people that truely care about us by our side that's what matters.

I would be pissed but don't stress. The same thing happend to my bestie with her wedding last year. 2 groomsmen bailed at the last minute and they weren't even going anywhere. One just said the week before he didn't have a ride cause he lives out of town and the other was her brother who just didn't want to be in it anymore. Also the bestman called 2 weeks before the wedding and said he could't come because of medical bills and couldn't afford the plane ticket. They had to end up paying for him. Talk about unexpected exspenses last minute. Anywhoo I said all this to say, things happen and people are sometimes unreliable. Don't let it stress you and just roll with it. I have seen uneven bridal parties many times before. Good luck Smiley smile

    Thanks guys so much.

That's what were just gonna have to do. The two men will definitely feel real smooth with two ladies on their arms. =P

My FH was in a wedding and the numbers were uneven so he got to be the groom with 2 girls on his arms. He loved it. They even have a pic of him walking back up the aisle, a girl on each arm and him holding up 2 fingers for the photographer. Hillarious.
