The WW checklist is a great place to start!

Congratulations!! Welcome to WW too. :o) you should start with your overall budget, as that will affect everything else. Next, decide on the style of wedding you want- then start searching for venues. It's pretty overwhelming at first, but it starts falling into place- promise!

Congratulations! Yes - budget first; style (formal, garden, eclectic, vintage, etc); then venue....THEN you can choose everything else Smiley smile. Best wishes to you and your partner!

    Welcome to WW!

As others have pointed out, you need a budget before you can make decisions about anything else. You probably won't be able to book anything until some time in 2012, as most vendors don't want to book more than a year out, but you can definitely start searching and pricing once you have the budget.

As far as what you do with your wedding, that's just a matter of individual taste. You can be as traditional or as non-traditional as you want. There have been MANY different "kinds" of wedding planned on these boards, so there should always be someone who can at least give an informed opinion if you have questions about something.

Congratulations! There are a few ladies on here that have had same sex weddings. I'm sure they can be of help to you as well! But as everyone else has stated, the budget tool, and checklist are great places to start.

Congratulations and welcome to WW (Wedding Wire), just a note, you will find tons of abbreviations on this site (FMIL for Future Mother in Law, BIL for brother in law, you'll get used to them).

I would definitely start with the budget, and look through the WW check list to see potential expenses (I did not go with everything on the checklist, but it's a great guide).

You have come to the right place for expert advice!
