Two different themes/decor at the same venue?

Happilee, on November 6, 2019 at 2:50 AM Posted in Style and Décor 0 5
Hey everyone!

We are having our ceremony and reception at the same venue. We will be renting some gold chairs to better fit our decor on the bottom floor where the ceremony and dinner/dancing will be. To save money, we opted for the dark brown house chairs on the balcony/upper level where cocktail hour will take place. During cocktail hour we will also be having our Chinese tea ceremony on the main floor so the guests may watch from above. FH Mom has been very sad that we opted for a florist (logistically she would have too much to do the day of) so we thought we could ask her to do the cocktail flowers. In addition, our escort cards will be displayed on a large double happiness symbol on the second floor. Red is a big color in Chinese weddings and although we don't have any red planned for the main decor I was thinking we could do the balcony/cocktail area more traditionally? With red/white/cream/gold.

Would this be odd to have two different schemes/themes between upstairs and downstairs? The spaces are clearly defined for different parts of the day. The ceremony/dinner will be white/cream/gold and greenery. I will be wearing both a white and red dress at different parts of the evening.

Nope not at all, I think it gives a wow factor! Your guets probably haven't been to too many weddings where they have 2 themes so I think they'll love it. Especially that you have 2 spaces that they can move around too and 2 dresses...it'll be awesome! Go for it!

We're actually doing the samething. Because my 1st dress is a little formal we're going very mordern and sleek for the ceremony. Very romantic atmosphere with candles everywhere. My 2nd dress is kind of Boho (I love boho weddings) so we're going to transform the reception space into like a boho garden with rugs, greenery and hanging florals everywhere. Creating a relaxed fun party atmosphere. The cocktail hour patio has cafe lighting and we're also throwing some cool decorative rugs out there so it'll be a small transition for the guests before the move into the boho garden lol.

I see nothing wrong with it! As long as it's not hurting anyone, go for it Smiley smile

I am doing to color themes because I am having an Indian wedding and more Western type reception.

I think it will be awesome! It does make coordinating a bit more confusing
