Tuxedo Vs. Suit for your wedding?

Amber, on November 28, 2019 at 12:29 AM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 13
This has been an on/off conversation between my fiance & I on what he and his groomsmen will be wearing for our wedding. I keep telling him he needs to figure out what he is wanting to wear & I get 🤷 it's frustrating this must be a man thing or mine just has no 💡 what he's wanting to wear.

How about yours? Was it difficult him figuring out which one he wanted to wear for him and his GM?

I guess it’s no different than the bride who can’t decide between 2 dresses. 🤷🏽‍♀️ 😆

FH is wearing a suit jacket. It wasn’t a difficult decision at all because he wears them on a regular and has a large closet full 🤦🏽‍♀️

We decided to be super chill about it. I don't even know what my FH is wearing or what the GM are wearing Smiley laugh

As long as they show up in clothes, I'm good!

DH already had a really nice charcoal grey suit and both his GM had black suits, so it was a no brainer that they’d wear what they already owned. Does he maybe want to buy a suit that he’ll be able to use again? Tux would likely be rental I would think, and for some extra $$$ buying a suit that he’ll use again and again might be better economy.

I think you can rent suits too not 100%. Well my FH certainly isn't no everyday suit wearing kinda guy. So it'll definitely be just for our wedding plus he's a bigger kinda guy. He's like a Jelly Roll (the rapper) if anyone know who he is🤣😘💖

I told my husband to figure out what he wanted since I didn’t know anything about tuxes or suits, but he still put it on me. So I went online and took screenshots of all sorts of options. He said he liked the black suit best, so I told my brother, the bridesman, to get a suit and we’d get matching ties. Then a few weeks later my husband told me idk the difference and I want tuxes. So I told my brother to get a tux. We decided to still get ties instead of bow ties because we both despise bow ties. Google told me it was a faux pas and my poor brother had such a hard time at mens wearhouse with them telling him he couldn’t wear a tie so he got a suit after all. The best man and my husband still had a tux. And you know what, everyone looked awesome and nobody cared. Because at the end of the day they had white shirts and black jackets and the ties looked super sharp.

My husband, the groomsmen, the bridesman, the usher, the ring bearer, and my dad all worn tuxes. My father-in-law didn't want to rent a tux because he owns a suit that he wanted to wear. My husband had me pick because he didn't care either way. He said I was the one that had to look at him all day so I could pick what he worn. I wanted the wedding to be very formal so I selected tuxes rather than suits.

I think the decision of suit vs tux should be based on the formality of your event. A tux would seem super odd at a casual event as would a suit at a formal event. So, that decision should be easy.
Now getting him to decide style and color that might be a little more tricky. I have no tips since mine knew right off the bat what he wanted.

FH and I talked about what he should wear. Based on our color scheme (navy, gold and red wine/burgundy), I already knew he wanted to wear navy. He hates bowties but I think they're cute. Anyway, I sat with him and showed him the different combinations he could do. After a few minutes (surprisingly), he decided that he will be wearing a navy suit with a navy vest, a red wine tie and brown leather shoes and a brown belt. His groomsmen will wear a navy suit with black suspenders, a gold tie and brown leather shoes and a brown belt.

We are having a black tie optional wedding so the men are wearing tuxes. Like a previous poster said, it really depends on the formality of your wedding.

My husband knew right away he wanted to wear a tux. We had an afternoon wedding so it wasn’t quite as formal and he could’ve gone either way, but his reasoning was “if my own wedding isn’t enough of an occasion to dress up in a tux then what is?” Lol

I don’t think it was a difficult decision for my fiancé, but it just took him a while to decide more of what he was leaning towards. They’ll being wearing suits.

Our wedding was pretty chill so DH and his groomsmen wore suits. The only thing DH was dead set on was wearing a blue shirt and gold tie. Our dress code was "Sunday Best- no jeans" and no one matched. So it's really going to depend on your formality. If doing black tie optional you'll want your bridal party in black tie for sure.

My husband did suit because we wanted to get him a suit he could wear for anything! And so a tux would have been too formal and specific
