Tungsten rings-resizable?

Jamie, on July 5, 2011 at 11:50 PM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 17

OK, I know you can't really make a ring bigger, but does anybody know how hard it is to size down a tungsten ring? FH works with heavy metals, and is generally hard on jewelry. Is it difficult to find somebody that can size down a tungsten ring (for some reason, I'm having a hard time finding them in half sizes, and his finger is an 11.5)?

I've heard that they cannot be resized. Have you tried http://www.jvljewelry.com/?

I used the code BRIDES today and got FH's ring for $25

Nope, we already asked a jeweler. Make sure u order the right size! Jvl does odd sizes, fh is a 10 1/2 and he is crazy hard on his jewelry so we got 3 sets from them for $150 and we r keeping his nice set for the wedding, church, going out.

Every jewelry store has told us it can't be resized, which is why we decided that it was worth spending the money for white gold.

My FH got a tungsten ring. The jeweler said that they can't be resized BUT he ALSO said that if he needed a different size to bring the ring back and they would send him a brand new one at a different size for free. I don't know if that is just our jeweler or the warranty we got with it, either way - you should be able to get one that fits if need be. Just ask about that I guess?

FH wanted a tungsten ring and was told it couldnt be re-sized but for whatever reason if he needed a different size it could be exchanged- multiple times if needed. Go to a good Jeweler and Im sure you wont have an issue.

I've been told they cannot be resized. we ordered ours from jvljewelry.com as well. they even do quarter sizes. i am a 4 3/4 and FH is a 12 1/4. Both our rings came in and fit great.

My husband has a tungsten ring and it cannot be resized. its too strong and cannot be cut. we got his at zales and we got the warranty that allows you to get the same ring for free in a different size for once in your life, incase he gains/loses weight and it no longer fits.

Emergency removal of a tungsten ring involves cracking, so that should tell you enough...

I'd prefer a ring that you can use standard cutting tools with to remove in an emergency. The thought of having to crack a ring off in an emergent situation where a finger might already be swelling makes me cringe.

I agree with Matt. We were told tungsten can't be resized and for any of our guys that work with their hands and could potentially injure them, that means the rings won't come off. We opted for a white gold band.

There are jewelry designers on Etsy that custom design tungsten rings. I have seen some amazing work! If you go to the jewelry category and put Tungsten wedding rings in the search box, I am sure you will find some custom vendors. There is a vendor that is doing some amazing work with Tungsten and exotic woods, which are amazingly durable. www.etsy.com
