My family is open, and most of our familes like bbq so is it trashy to have bbq for our reception?

Not at all!! I always say there is a fine line between classy and trashy. My father's second wedding was a BBQ wedding. They had tents set up in the backyard with a dance floor. The cater specialized in BBQ. They had those large half oil drums set up and made some AMAZING chicken and steak (for half the cost of what it would have been at a venue). It was followed up with a campfire "after party" Everyone had a blast and it was a really nice day. If it is what you want-go for it!

We're doing a "picnic" dinner after our ceremony, which will probably be like some wraps and cold sandwiches and a couple of salad options. If you want BBQ, why would you do something "fancy" instead that doesn't make you happy?

No that's not trashy at all.As a matter of fact my reception is on a golf coursre at a country club. The scenery is beautiful.I am having bbq out on the patio;the patio holds about 100 ppl.there are several round tables out there.the inside has tables also but a more sophisticated approach.all you do is walk out the glass ajoining doors and you are on the patio. it also have an area out there for the dj.i chose that because some ppl like the outside while others may be a little more sophisticated and like a more laid back scenery.

Not at all hun! I found a caterer around my area that specializes in bbq for weddings and other major events. I had considered doing a pick roast but our venue has on site catering.

No way! We are doing BBQ here also! That is just more our taste. We are having what we would call a simple, but elegant wedding.

Hell no its not trashy! lol we're having brisket, (FH is an amazing cook) plus guests wont feel hungry afterwards. There's nothing worse then stopping at taco bell after you left your friend's $20,000 wedding that barely served you anything.

I say go for it. My first wedding was a BBQ/potluck. Our mothers put it together. We had so much food and no one seemed to mind at all. Everyone complimented on how wonderful all the food was.

WE tv just aired a "Rich Bride-Poor Bride" episode today where the couple had a BBQ reception! It turned out gorgeous and everyone had a great time. If you are looking for a more relaxed reception and just want everyone to have a good time, then I think its a great idea!

Yay! I'm a BBQ bride, too! We're having the caterers come and do the grilling on site.

Not trashy at all, we are having bbq as well and the reception is going to be in a barn. It's what I want. And this is your wedding so it should be about what you want as well.
