So I'm considering doing a trash the dress shoot either on our trip to an awesome beach somewhere or even as like 1 year anniversary thing.. Anyone do one? Or planning on doing one? Some people are like why?! Why don't you donate it? Or preserve it? Because it's MY dress and the pictures are...

I hate this idea and have no idea how it became so popular. I LOVE my dress and I'm spending a lot of money on it. I don't want to ruin if just for a picture.

I am personally not doing it because my dress is from 1912 and I would hate to ruin it. If it was a modern one that I had not spent a lot of money on, hey why not? f it's just going to goodwill or is not worth that much money, you can do whatever you want with your clothing.

My dress didn't set me back but $100 on eBay, so I'm going for it. That was the point of buying my dream dress on the cheap was so that I could do something like this.

I am thinking of donating mine to make Angel Dresses for the little babies who never make it home from the hospital. I just could not even fathom destroying my dress, especially since it took so long to find it, pay for it, alter it, and cherish it.

To each his own! If you are happy doing it, go for it!!

Personally I am thinking about it if I have the extra cash left over. I want to go online and buy a cheap wedding dress like 80 dollars or so from a knockoff site and do the trash the dress with that. I love the water shots I would never burn the dress or throw paint on it but the ocean pictures are beautiful. This topic is kind of divided here a lot of brides don't agree and others love the idea, I know some who have done it and simply dry cleaned the dress after. Its your dress you do what you want with it, either way if you keep it for your future daughter she might not even like it because styles are always changing.

I love the trash the dress pictures!!

If you only jumped in the water, can't you just clean it after?

Personally, I don't like the idea, but I would never tell a bride not to do something they sincerely want to do. If she wants to trash am expensive dress she fell in love with that took her months to find, that's her choice. I won't condemn or encourage the action/behavior.

I'm going to be honest, my dress was trashed by the end of the reception. I had red wine spilled on it (a bridesmaid dropped her glass) and I was bare foot during an outdoor reception. Needless to say, my dress was all kinds of trashed. I took it to a dry cleaners the morning after and the lady just looked at me like "wtf?". lol.

Don't be afraid of ruining your dress. The name kind of implies that the dress will be ruined at the end of the session. That is RARELY the case. (unless you are doing something like a food fight or paint fight...which we have to admit would be AWESOME!) Especially if it's at a barn or a beach. That kind of stuff WILL come out of your dress. You can either take it to a good dry cleaner or even just soak the dress in the tub and then let it dry. It's really more about the experience and the chance to do something in your dress that you wouldn't normally do. There is something fun in pictures and art about juxtaposition. The pristine white dress in a "dirty" situation is just so intriguing. You'll have amazing art to hang in your home forever. The pictures you get after the session and just the unbelievable fun experience that you'll have for a lifetime we always feel is WELL worth the possibility of getting a little dirt on your dress.

You can also find an ebay/etsy dress or thrift store dress to wear for these photos as well if you REALLY want to "Trash" a dress!

A woman died trashing her dress.... she drowned. I don't think I would ever trash something so beautiful. Its like trash the marriage... just my opinion.

I've thought about doing a trash the dress thing after our wedding, but then I found out that they can turn your wedding dress into baby blankets so I think that's what we'll be doing.

I bought a Lulus dress at Goodwill specifically for trash our dress shoot. It's not like you need to trash your actual wedding dress. For my husband and me, it's more about taking some hot and steamy photos on the beach!
