Trash the Dress... but what about the Suit?

Jessica, on February 7, 2012 at 6:58 PM Posted in Community Conversations 0 20

Check it out! It's a Trash the Suit session with the groom, his buddies, and a paintball fight.

http://blogs.dexknows.com/weddings/2012/02/group-trashthesuit-shoot/

Personally I think they look most handsome with their clean suits sporting the 007 w/paintball gun look. But what a fun idea for a paintball enthusiast groom!

Ha! Only a matter of time before they figured out a way to make more money out of the grooms and not just the brides. Smiley smile

The thing that sucks about it is most guys can wear a good suit for years, so it would really be a waste to actually "trash" it. Whereas most TTD sessions don't trash the dress anyway, plus you're never wearing it again so who cares.

I agree with Kris and Brianna. TTD is bugging me too. I would much rather find a poor bride of my size and just give her the dress.

As far as tuxes go, I can only hope we could use one as a sex item, because my DH looks so incredibly yum in it :-)

I think photographers should change the term to Rock the Dress... It seems to me from conversation on forums that so many brides flip out over the idea of "trashing" their dress, that they overlook the reason for the photo shoot- to wear your dress again and have amazing pictures taken where you don't have to stay perfect and beautiful. Lots of shoots don't actually ruin the dress forever.. Trash the Dress is just the name, not a command.

As far as these guys and their suits, it says they bought cheap ones to ruin.. which is what a lot of brides do if they want to really ruin their dress with the photo shoot.

I know I'm trashing my suit the same time my bride to be TTD. Looking at this it'd be fun to do it with the guys as a group

That makes a lot more sense Jessica...I didn't read the article.

We talked about doing a TTD shoot up in the mountains on our skis/snowboard. It wouldn't actually "trash" anything. I don't know if we'll actually do it though. We'll see!

I agree with you, they should change the name. Rock the Dress sounds a lot better.

I think men would find this very entertaining. It's probably fun but not for me.

There are so many great organizations to donate dresses to I think that would be much more rewarding than TTD.

Of course, I'm kind of wondering exactly how "cheaply" you can buy a suit... Aren't cheap suits still a couple hundred dollars? Can you buy suits for under $100 from Wal-Mart or Ross or something?

My dress is silk-taffeta, and even water spots are hard to professionally remove from that fabric. My photographers include an engagement or TTD session, so we might go out into the forest after our wedding and take pictures. Bright dress against dark forested background, sitting on roots and moss - that sort of stuff, and hopefully able to clean my dress afterwards.

Hmm.. am I strange for incorporating my FH in my TTD shoot..

and am I the only one annoyed with people saying how they hate TTD sessions?

We are getting a free session, and going to an amusement park and then to the beach.. I got my dress at running of the brides for a great price, and am so excited to do the session!!!!

The whole idea of "trashing" or even "rocking" is completely asinine to me..why would you spend all that extra money buyin ANOTHER dress to take pictures in?? wasteful...... my fh is renting his suit so that is not happening! if you want more pictures of you in your dress take more on your wedding day jeesh....

Wow girls we don't need to get offended by others opinions. And we can probably have opinions without trashing someone's idea!

I personally think the trash the suit shoot is hilarious. They guys probably had lots of fun with it to.

I loveee the idea of going snowboarding in the suit and dress, I think that's awesome.

And I think going to a amusement park with hubby in your dress will make for some really cute pictures Smiley smile

That being said, I don't think I would ever do a TTD just because I love my dress and hope my kids will wear it someday lol. And I don't want to spend more money on another dress or even on the shoot.

Well it's also wasteful to spend all that money for your dress to sit in the closet after wearing once for a few hours.

I agree with Alina. Trashing other people's ideas because you don't like it is asinine to me Smiley smile

I agree Ashley (and know realistically my kids won't wear it)... and I am aware people have their own opinions.. I think this is awesome, and that people can be so creative with this and will have the pictures forever!!

I love amusement parks... and we will take some playing that carnival game when you shoot the water to race thing to the top.... FUN

We are doing a TTD/TTS session at an old train station terminal (it still has the old ticket booths and everything) because we originally wanted to do a vintage theme wedding, but had a change in plans. I can't wait!!!

"Well it's also wasteful to spend all that money for your dress to sit in the closet after wearing once for a few hours. "

Exactly. We're not talking about "spending a ton of money on a second dress" we're talking about wearing out original dress that we already spent a ton of money on, and getting our money's worth. Get more pictures on your wedding day? Obviously you don't understand the point of the TTD session... The point is not to just get more bridal shots, it's to get shots that you would NEVER take on your wedding day because you wouldn't want to risk getting it dirty for your wedding photos.
