Tour Planning for Destination Weddings

Patti, on June 27, 2019 at 12:37 PM Posted in Planning 0 6
Hi Lovelies! So a bit of background... we're getting married in almost a month and I'm starting to have people ask "so what else have you planned?". Our wedding is in San Francisco where I live, but both my and my fiances families are from the est coast, so not destination for us, but destination for everyone else.

How may of you that are having destination weddings are also planning tourist outings for their guests? We put a list of places we like on out wedding site, but it sounds like people are expecting us to put together a whole tour plan for them as well... what are all of you doing?

Maybe they're asking about a welcome party? Many couples invite out of town guests to the rehearsal dinner.

We are checking into our hotel Thursday night, checking out Sunday morning. We are having the rehearsal dinner Friday, a "bar meet up" after at the hotel, but the only hosted event is the rehearsal dinner. I assume we will invite anyone in the hotel to dinner or lunch or whatever though even if it's casual.

I could be, but we are having a rehearsal and out-of-town family is invited (they are the ones asking about tours) and they already have those invites.

Sounds like you have it covered with a rehearsal dinner that includes then. We had a destination wedding and also included a “drink at the bar” for those people that arrived Thursday....rehearsal was Friday night and wedding Saturday. You will be super busy and no time for more entertaining. Give them local places to see like you did and focus on your big day. Good luck. 😊

We are having a DW in Cancún and I plan on having a welcomes drink with appetizers and bomfire the night before and some type of excursion for those who would like to join during the day, also on the day before... and something the day after, I’m not sure yet...

We are getting married in North Carolina, but all of my family will be traveling from Wisconsin. I am planning for my rehearsal dinner to also be a welcome party for all out of town guests. I am also planning to do a gift opening/brunch on Sunday after the wedding for everyone to hang out before traveling back home. On our website, I plan to have some of our favorite local restaurants and some things to do/places to go, but no other formal events.
