Hey everyone!

So I hate to be a negative Nancy, but I'm really starting to regret my choice of bridesmaids. I have seven total, 4 of which are my core set of friends from high school. When I announced my engagement, they contacted me first asking when I would ask them to be bridesmaids!

It was fine at first but after about 6 months out, when I really needed support and advice, they were nowhere to be found. Flash forward now, they say they're more excited to go on vacation to Florida, they are negative about almost every decision I make. They have honestly made this process so much more stressful. They have actively begun just making me feel awful as my date gets closer. I just want to feel supported in my decisions, but they seem to have only negative comments.

They also REFUSE to try to get along with my other maids, which is causing more stress. Honestly, I'm looking forward to letting them fade out of my life when this is over! I feel so guilty, but also Smiley sad not!

I think that you need to stop sharing any wedding details with them and if they are asking, just tell them that it's a surprise or make up some other excuse. They don't sound like great friends. Great friends don't call you when you get engaged and ask when they will be asked to be bridesmaids. You can't unask them so you'll just have to deal with them. Their only job is to show up on the wedding day in their dress. Don't ask them to do more than that.

People who invite themselves to be in your wedding party are not in it to support you. And chances are in a few years you won't even be talking to each other. Stop talking about the wedding to them, and maybe ask about their life interests sometimes. Remember, a bridesmaid's only job is to stand next to you at the ceremony. If they are in fact randomly sending negative messages, address it with them. If you're not destined to be friends forever, you could always ask them to attend your wedding as a guest instead.
