Torn between venues

Tiffany, on February 14, 2020 at 6:31 AM Posted in Wedding Reception 0 9
Hey y’all!! I really want to cry right now. I thought we had chosen a venue but we viewed another 1 yesterday. Our theme is The Great Gatsby so the 2nd venue would go great with it because it’s a historical landmark & it’s basically a mini mansion. The only thing about it, is that it’s kind of in a residential neighborhood & there really isn’t any parking & it’s a fairly busy street. We can’t move the furniture & of course there is no main room to be in. Everyone would just be walking around & mingling all night.

The 1st venue has 2 parking lots near it, I like this 1 because it has a ballroom which would be used for our main room. We would have to do waaayyyy more decorating than we would the other 1, so it’ll match our theme.
Both venues cost the same.Guest list of 150I need help, what should I do.

The venue with parking unless you plan on shuttling your guests to the venue.

Maybe you could contact the 2nd vendor and ask them if they have any options/suggestions for parking. And ask what other couples have done in the past. Maybe they will have a creative or affordable solution! It sounds like you would be saving a considerable amount of money on decor if you went with the 2nd venue, perhaps you could put some of those savings towards a parking solution & have the venue that fits your theme Smiley smile

At every wedding I've ever attended, there's been a big enough space for all the guests to be in the same place so they could see everything and share a common experience with the B&G. No matter how cool the atmosphere is, personally, I would not choose a wedding venue where there wasn't space for that. Even if you're not planning on dancing, to have 150 guests spread out throughout a house-type venue would take a lot away from the celebration for me. Also, parking is critical. I get the style of the house is a good fit for your theme, but it doesn't really sound like a good fit for a large wedding reception. I'd either choose the first or keep looking. Good luck!

Ok, I got the two venues confused. I was thinking the first venue was the one that guests would be separated in. In this case, I would definitely go with the venue #1! Not having a main room for everyone to be in I think would definitely take away from the celebration vibe. To be honest, thinking of lots of people milling around a house chatting makes me think of gatherings after a funeral 😕

I would go with the first venue for sure. Sure, you may have to do more decorating but logistically it would work better!!!

I would also go with the first venue. The no main room would be a deal breaker for me, it wouldn't really feel like a true celebration if we all couldn't be together celebrating. Also the parking lot is a hugeee plus, and will definitely make it easier on everyone including you. Decorating will be a lot of work, but maybe it will be even more fun to bring your vision to life exactly the way you want it. Good luck!

Thank you guys so much. Each of your suggestions made plenty of sense. The only reason I had doubts with venue 1 is because my FH got kind of excited when he saw the kitchen. (Please don’t ask me why, lol)
And I’m pretty sure I would be worried about the parking during my entire reception & we can’t have that.

Wow. I would have never thought about the funeral part. After I tell hubby that, he’ll definitely go with the 1st venue
