Torn Between Two Wedding Dresses

Leah, on January 10, 2022 at 10:59 PM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 16

Hi, I am currently torn between two very different dresses and would love any input and insight anyone has that would help me make this big decision. Thanks in advance! Smiley heart

Ooh they're both pretty, and really suit your figure, so honestly I don't think you can go wrong!

What sort of event are you hoping to have, and what kind of venue have you booked? Do you have a theme or look in mind?

to me, the first is a bit more boho, but also somehow, a bit more formal. Maybe because it's a tiny bit more covered? I'm honestly not sure. The second is a bit more casual, but maybe more fun, with a chill, "I'm a cool relaxed bride who will jump in the pool later" type vibe.

Of course, with the right hair, makeup and accessories either dress could be made more formal or more casual! I'm just expressing my first thoughts on seeing the dresses!

Both are beautiful. Which is easiest to move in? Do all kinds da of movements: sitting, bending, dancing, etc. if it’s remotely restrictive, go with a different dress. Basically which dress do you absolutely not want to take off once you are wearing it?

Hi Rosie, thanks so much for the thoughtful answer! Our venue is in the Colorado mountains (ceremony will be outside and reception inside). We're aiming to have a more relaxed wedding and theme is probably a mix of rustic/boho. Boho is the style I tend to gravitate towards (dress 1), but I also love the more romantic, and fun/flirty look of dress 2. I'm very confused haha.

Hi Michelle! This is great advice and I actually think gets to a key problem I'm struggling with trying to decide between the two. Both are made out of stretch lace, so are incredibly comfortable. The second dress has a gorgeous train which is one of the reasons I love it, but also a reason that I'm hesitant to wear it past the ceremony - even bustled, it's heavy and drags and I cannot imagine dancing in it. But it is exactly what I imagine when I think 'wedding dress.' The first dress has a small train that is easily bustled up and would be no problem dancing in. I am drawn to the ease/practicality of it, but it's definitely not the gorgeous 'wow' train of the other dress.

I think both/either dress would work for the type of event you describe!

I do think, from what you've said above... you should go for the second. If it's what you'd always imagined as your wedding dress, if it's what you can imagine standing at the end of the aisle and walking down to your partner in... it's the one, and practicality be damned, IMO. It honestly sounds like you're mostly considering the other one because it's more 'sensible' and to me, that is a sad reason to choose it as a dress. If you thought it was more 'you', more reasonably priced, more appropriate for your venue, or the type of ceremony location (ie, you wanted something more covered because it was a church ceremony, etc) then I'd say by all means go ahead, but I get the impression that you love the other one more, and are just worried about the train and maaaybe some difficulty moving around in it? Real talk, on what other day of your life do you have to care less about practicality of clothing? I've worn tiny trains before and they're just as annoying as a long one, and harder to bustle to boot. I say go for the drama, go for the wow dress, lol!

(But honestly, you should go for the one you love most!)

If the train is heavy and you don’t want to bustle it and it’s still difficult to move in, including dancing, that would be a sign to nix that choice.

Echoing practicality be damned! This is your once-in-a-lifetime event to go beyond what you normally would do. This is why brides have to plan with their bridesmaids how to go pee in ballgowns because practicality goes out the window🤣...but how often do we wear a big ballgown, you know?

The second one looks fabulous on you; the floral pattern is unique and will really pop/contrast well against the mountain landscape. A dramatic backdrop calls for a beautiful dress/train Smiley love

You will not notice the weight of the bustled train once you're dancing and having fun. There is always the option to add a loop for your wrist so that you can carry the weight there instead of on the bustle. Explore different types of bustles with your seamstress to see how you can evenly distribute the weight Smiley smile

My vote is for #1. I think it looks more unique. But both are very flattering and you will look amazing in either option!

Wow they are both so gorgeous! The first dress for me has Beachy boho vibes, the second sort of an Art Deco feel. The first one to me stands out a bit more because it’s unusual, in the best way!

I vote for the first one. There is more to it. Looks more like a wedding dress. Smiley smile

The first dress looks more interesting and, I think, emphasizes the figure better. The second dress seems to lack something.
