Torn between two dresses!

Help! I can’t decide between two dresses. I will be 32 when my wedding happens on September 17th, 2022. My venue is an adorable flower farm in Colorado with a brand new barn and a big lawn where we will have long farm tables set out under string lights for a garden party/dinner party vibe for dinner. I’m only 4’11” and curvy, so most dresses make me look shorter and heavier than I actually am. I have found that fitted gowns with minimal seams at the waist/knees elongate me best. I’m also about 20 pounds heavier than I have ever been right now, so I anticipate losing this pandemic weight before the wedding! Both dresses have gorgeous trains - the photos don’t do them justice! A lot of the photos are actually screenshots from videos, so I apologize if the resolution isn’t the best.

THE DRESSESOption 1: Grace Loves Lace Clo gown. This dress is under budget, SO stretchy and comfy, minimal alterations needed, and there aren’t any major seams in front making me look short or heavy. Shown in nude or ivory lining (nude sample was the correct size, ivory was too small but I wanted to see it in white). I would order the ivory with the back piece. My fiancé would lose his mind over this dress because I never wear anything fitted, but I would need to lose the weight I want to lose to feel comfortable with the way my back & arms look in this dress. I also think this dress feels more like the venue (I’m envisioning some white cowgirl booties or block heels, and maybe a white leather jacket for my getaway!)
Option 2: Rish bridal Carolina gown. Over budget, would order it in ivory instead of champagne, and the skirt would have to be switched with a different skirt style to eliminate the V shaped seam in front so that it would just be one continuous piece of fabric in the same shape & the same lace, which is so much more flattering for my height. My mom also wants the V neckline to close a bit higher than my waist, so I’m worried about all the alterations on top of the higher price point. HOWEVER, this gown is more elegant and I think it is more flattering in the upper body if I don’t lose all the weight I want to lose. It also has some subtle sparkle throughout the dress that will look amazing under the string lights! My mom told me this dress feels more age-appropriate and she prefers the sparkle, so I really don’t know which one to choose.

Both dresses are beautiful on you, but I love #1, I actually really love it with the nude underlay too.

Definitely the second one for me but that's over the budget... Go for the one you absolutely love because you get to do it once. Some lucky ones do get married few times in their lives LOL but most of us get only one Smiley winking

I think both look great on you! 1 looks a little more casual romantic, and 2 looks a bit more formal so maybe it depends on the look you are going for that way. While I think both are flattering by looking at these photos, it's really about what you will feel beautiful and comfortable in!

Thank you!! 💕 I agree that dress 2 is more formal! A formal wedding isn’t really our style (we truly wanted a farm-to-table, outdoor experience that was elegant without being too formal). I’m definitely leaning toward dress 1 for that casual romantic feel!

Thank you!!! That definitely helps put things in perspective. Some people just really love dress 2, and while I love it too, I’m coming to realize that dress 1 just captures the feeling I want on my wedding day at our venue 💕

My vote is for the first one with the ivory lining. You look gorgeous in it and it’s not over budget. That’s a win win!!!

I honestly don't think you can go wrong. You look STUNNING in 1 and I honestly don't think you need to lose any weight since it looks fabulous exactly how you are. I also don't think either dress is too young for you.

I would say the first is definitely more modern and fresh, and the second is a little more classic and traditional, so I would use that as my guide on what to pick.

I don't think you need to change the skirt OR the v on dress 2 - if I picked this one, I'd keep those elements how they are. The bust looks really well fitted and nothing is hanging out that shouldn't - honestly it looks like it was made for your body.

Reading between the lines though, am I reading you feel a pull towards one? It's cheaper, it's more modern, and there are less alterations to be done. Two is over budget already, and also requires a bunch of alterations for you to get it to look the way you want, further pushing up the cost. But it does have the sparkle, and is a slightly 'safer' option.

The good thing is, I don't think you can go wrong with either one. You look beautiful in both.

Rosie, I appreciate such a thoughtful response!! 💕 2 is definitely a crowd pleaser with my traditional family, but I’m definitely feeling a pull towards 1 for it feeling fresh & modern, while also being romantic to fit the venue and wedding aesthetic. Also, the budget! Dress 2 scares me a little because of the price & alterations...I feel gorgeous in both, so it’s been so validating to hear that from everyone. I also love seeing so many votes for dress 1, since on paper it’s the better purchase and personally I felt more of a pull toward that one from the start. I have been to 5 stores and had 7 appointments, so my family is getting prettttty tired of looking and I’m convinced these two can’t be topped 😂 Pretty sure dress 1 is the one I’ll go back to ☺️

So exciting! Being a people pleaser is good for a lot of things, but NOT for your wedding dress. This is your day, and your dress. And you can see it in your face in the pictures, haha! You'd be happy with 2 and it's a beautiful gown, but you love 1!

You couldn’t go wrong with either one….but the back of the 1st gown makes it the winner imo.
