Too white?

Lynnie, on September 17, 2015 at 2:07 PM Posted in Etiquette and Advice 0 43

So my friend just emailed me and a few of our friends a picture of this dress and asked if it was too white to wear to a wedding as a guest. So which I responded, umm who wants 3 opinions when you can ask the forums? duh.

So weigh in here! Not my dress so I will not be offended by anything Smiley smile

No, but to me it looks like something you could wear to a rehearsal dinner as the bride so i think personally i would avoid it. but then again i have seen ladies here post ones with flowers and white backgrounds and not had an issue with them. idk.

Personally I wouldn't wear it as a guest, but I also wouldn't be upset if a guest wore that to my wedding. Unless that guest were my FMIL...

No, I'd be fine with a guest wearing that to my wedding... especially if they paired it with black shoes. Totally fine

It's ok, especially if she wears a black throw, or cardigan.

I probably wouldn't, I'm the type to just stay away from white or off-white completely. Now if someone wore that to my wedding I wouldn't care because I'm not wearing white.

I'm on the fence. I personally wouldn't wear it because I would be uncomfortable even with the black, and what I would tell a friend is "I think if you have to ask, you have your answer."

On the other hand, it's not all white so I really don't think it would be a huge deal.

I am with @Elizabeth clearly on the fence about it from my other answer. Personally if some one showed up to my wedding in it i wouldnt get offended or pissed off.

I wouldn't mind, but I probably wouldn't wear it either. It's just too iffy and there are so many other dresses she could wear.

I think its too white and too lacey. Sort of bridal looking.

    ETA: Lacy? Lol

It isn't my style, but I would not have any problems with a guest wearing this to my wedding. It is not a solid white, and IMO does not resemble anything I would wear at my rehearsal or reception so it would be fine on a guest.

I would just play it safe and call it a no. Unless there's a cardigan or something to wear with it.

It's really cute, but with the solid white sections and the all-over lace, it looks very bridal.

I probably wouldn't because you never know how the bride would feel. With a cardigan, it wouldn't be bad, though. I just went to a wedding this weekend and a woman wore a strapless all-white dress. I was actually kind of shocked. lol

I love that dress, but it definitely falls into the gray area of too white. I figure if it falls into the gray area then better to be safe and not wear it. You really don't want to be that guest (or your friend shouldn't be).
