Just Said Yes December 2019

Too much to do and not enough time!

Gína, on November 18, 2019 at 2:05 PM Posted in Planning 0 10

I'm not one to ask for help so I have found myself with very little time left to complete everything. Anyone else have this issue?

I have pretty much decided that if I want it done I will need to do it.

I still have 5 months though (May bride here) December is getting close but I would suggest having a little get together with friends/family if you need some DIY help. Provide snacks or pizza and beer/wine and get it done.

Is there anything specific you need help with?

I’m getting married December 7th so I’m right there with you. I highly recommend making a list... jot down every little task that needs to be completed... no matter how minute... you would be surprised how many of those small tasks you can get done in short amount of time. I gave task an assigned date that I would get it done. Then I could breathe easier because each task had a time slot and I didn’t have to stress about it until the time slot arrived. Don’t be afraid to ask for help!!! Most of your friends and family would be happy to help!!!

Totally make a list of what you need to get done. If you need help and you have any family members or friends who can help you, don’t be afraid to ask. You can do it!

Make a list of EVERYTHING that has to get done. Then highlight the things that the wedding would be RUINED without. That means things like... making your final deposit to your photographer. Getting your RSVP count in to your caterer. Making sure your fiancé has his tux. Stuff like that.

NOT stuff like flowers, centerpieces, programs, etc. Would the day be absolutely RUINED if you didn’t have them? If not, those things belong on the list, but they do not get highlighted.
Once you see how few things are highlighted... how little actually has to be done in order for the day to not be entirely ruined, you’ll feel a lot more calm! The highlighted things are mandatory, and start thinking of EVERYTHING else as an “if I have time, it’ll be a bonus if I can get that done.”

I was really fortunate to have friends offer help but unfortunately I am also the type to not want to just ask aha.

This is great advice. I bet there are lots of things on your original list that aren't really necessary at this point. You are in crunch time, so it's all about prioritization.

Also, I am personally not a huge fan of asking friends and family to provide free labor for an event, so unless people have offered to help, I would just try to take care of all the truly necessary items between you and your FS.

Even if they ask, I don't like to take them up on it. What if they just wanted to "sound" nice...lol

That's certainly a possibility. All the more reason to cut the list of tasks down to what is really essential and then tackle them between the two of you.

He’s doing as much as I am with the spare time we have. He runs 3 businesses and I’m in charge of my dept at work so our schedules are nuts.
