Too hot for August wedding?

Saba, on March 3, 2014 at 9:28 AM Posted in Planning 0 8

I am planning for an 8/16 wedding in DC with most of the wedding outside under a tent. We sre planning to start pretty late...around 6:30. Am I crazy to think it won't be too hot? There is room to sit inside but most of the wedding reception (first dance, dance with dad) will be outside.

Where are you? Most people, at some point, want to escape the heat, especially when they're dressed up. You're pretty late in the year though; what does it usually do in your area?

Keep in mind, the guys in suits and tuxes and you in your big dress with corset/petticoat/undergarments will be the hottest. Night time is a lot more mild though, so you should be okay. Do you get a nice breeze where the wedding is?

Have something a little more casual so the guys don't need suites, I'm July 5 and told people just to wear shorts and sun dresses. We will be in the woods, and will have AC available in the lodge, but I really want everyone to be comfortable.

To change your date, go to the top of the screen, hover over your name in the top right corner, click "settings", then "wedding information". You change it there.

As for an August wedding, FH and I was thinking about changing our date (again!) to sometime in August or September, but we aren't sure if it would be a good time for a wedding or not. The weather here in Tennessee varies so much that we honestly aren't sure what to expect come that time. Just be sure to have a back-up plan just in case the first one falls through, especially when it comes to making sure your guests are comfortable.

    DATE TWIN!

My wedding is also outdoor. Our ceremony will start at 3:30 and be held on the mountain top (it should last 30 min). Then our guests will head down the mountain to reception where we have a tent with AC. I don't think it will be too hot, although it is always cooler is Deep Creek, MD than anywhere else.

We are considering short sleeves for the guys under their tux jackets to eliminate as many layers as possible. And my girls are wearing short dresses. I think everyone will be ok!

You can rent portable air conditioners. Just find a place and price them, then as the date approaches and the weather forecast comes in, you'll know if you need them.

Otherwise, fans (both electric and paper in hand), shade, lemonade stands, rootbeer floats, sno cones, fruit, and damp wash clothes for your neck, will keep things comfortable.
