Too dark for summer wedding?

Norha, on February 24, 2020 at 3:17 PM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 19
Looking for opinions and ideas. Is navy blue and grey too dark for a summer wedding? A close friend mentioned it’s too dark for a wedding and I started doubting my choices.Too dark for summer wedding? 1

It's not a "summery" theme but who cares lol. If you like the color then go with it! No one's going to think it's weird. It's not like you look like you're attending a Christmas party Smiley smile

I think it’s fine. I don’t really believe the colors need to match season

I don't think that's too dark at all! I'm having a Spring wedding and my wedding colors are darker/more rustic. I'm a little more laid back, and I don't usually subscribe to the whole "you can't have those colors in *that* season", but that's just my own opinion. I really like your colors Smiley smile

Picking a color based on season isn’t a big deal. If you love these colors then go with it. You could always brighten it up a bit with flowers.

Navy blue is my main wedding color and I'm getting married next month, in the spring. My girls will be in navy blue and the groomsmen will be in light gray suits and my FH is wearing a blue suit. I'm also using lots of greenery and white/cream colored flowers. I think navy blue can be used for any season personally. But I love the color and planned to use it no matter what date we picked. I think it's fine for summer though.

    Hi Norha,
I don't think the seasons matter, it's your day, you pick the colors, I think what your thinking is beautiful! I'm having a Feb. 2021 wedding and my bridesmaids are wearing lilac, not a winter color, but I love it!Too dark for summer wedding? 2

    I think its fine.

Are you having a daytime wedding or evening wedding? I can see wanting to use brighter colors for a summer daytime wedding but I think darker colors are perfectly appropriate for something that will go into the evening. Plus if you don't have an overly dark shade of navy (think like a dark dusty blue instead of midnight, similar to the "posing tips" photo) and pair it with gray I don't think it looks too harsh and would work regardless of time of day. If you wanted a more dark midnight color it would feel more appropriate for an evening wedding or something in the fall or winter, but it isn't out of place regardless.

Oh wow, that's awesome! I'm loving how everything is looking together so far. I think it's just very classic, elegant, and beautiful. I can't wait to see it all come together at the wedding. I think it'll be great for a summer wedding. Don't worry what anyone else says, it's your wedding and you can do what you want!

I'm getting married in July and having navy and two shades lighter to create a bit of an ombre effect for my ladies. It never crossed my mind that it was too dark for a summer wedding. Honestly blues like this just look really sharp! You can't go wrong! Go for it!

I’m getting married in mid August and my bridesmaids are wearing navy and the groomsmen are wearing light grey tuxes. My maid of honor is wearing rose gold and the guys will have navy ties with rose gold handkerchiefs.

You choose what you like! My colors are fall colors and my wedding is in June. The challenge for me is a few of the flowers are in a different season, so I am mixing up in season bright colors with my dark out-of-season flowers. My colors are jewel-tone colors: burgundy/ruby, moss green, gold/amber, navy/royal blue, and eggplant! The eggplant is a very dark color, however, I am mixing it with ivory, gold and yellow to brighten it up.

This is close to what I envision for a bouquet, with a little more ivory
