Today was supposed to be my wedding day

Madalena, on April 25, 2020 at 3:43 PM Posted in Family and Relationships 0 10
Hi everyone,

Today was supposed to be my wedding day, so it has been a difficult one for me. On top of that I am feeling so hurt because two out of my three bridesmaids have not reached out to me at all. I know it's a crazy time for everyone and the days are running together, but I just think this is a pretty big deal for me and two people who I considered my closest friends should care enough to at least send me a text. Idk if I'm being dramatic but just needed to vent that.

I think sometimes people don’t realize when you need emotional support unless you ask. Or maybe they think bringing it up will sting more. I would reach out to them if you need a shoulder to lean on, I’m sure they would be there for you.

Well right after I posted this I heard from one saying she had something to drop off for me, so she at least didn't forget!

Aw I know that must suck cause it would be nice to even get a “Aw I’m sorry” or “happy wedding day” text but like pps mentioned, some people aren’t very aware

Sadly, everyone has a LOT on their minds right now (health, job, emotional stress). If you’d like to hear from them, reach out first.

I disagree with everyone else. I know people have a lot on their minds but this was your original wedding day. For your bridesmaids not to remember that and reach out is pretty surprising. I would be hurt. Im sorry that you are struggling today. Sending my thoughts your way.

I am sorry about your friends. I don't think people really understand how painful canceling a wedding can be. Especially when it is forced and not a choice. At this point, everything is canceled, so perhaps they just didn't think much of it. Doesn't really excuse their actions though. My guests even emailed, text, and called me on our original day. I would have been hurt if no one reached out.

I agree that maybe your 1 friend who didn't reach out perhaps did so intentionally- maybe she was afraid to make the dat even more painful? I'd certainly be unsure what to say and afraid it would upset you to even talk about it.

As some PPs have said- if you want to talk, reach out. No one can read your mind.

I don't buy the excuse that people have other stuff going on. Unless someone is sick, I feel like at the very least your BRIDESMAIDS should be reaching out to you on your WEDDING DAY. This was supposed to be your big day and at the very least those involved could acknowledge it.

I am so sorry. I know how hard this is. My wedding was supposed to be May 15, and I don't know what will happen or if anyone will reach out. It is so hard. I hope that your new date will bring you tons of happiness. Sometimes it feels like it is just you, but I realized that there a lot of us and I am so sad for all of us. Keep your chin up, this to shall pass. and we will all have great stories about being corona-brides! Smiley heart Smiley heart
