Toasting Flutes... why?

Ok Stupid question.... but are these really important? When are they used? Just during dinner, but doesnt the hall provide wine glasses? Or is it a picture opprotunity kind of thing? If that is the case could people post some pictures with them? I know dumb question but I have really been wondering,...

Mine were black and had our names engraved- only $15. Just another keepsake of our wedding day!

We opted for really nice Vera Wang ones that we plan on using for our anniversary. It's a nice keepsake, and I'm looking forward to drinking out of them again to commemorate our anniversary. But if you don't care about stuff like that, then skip it.

You can get some from Dollar Tree. I think they are mostly for photos.

Had we not gotten ours from DH's grandmother, I wouldnt have spent any time worrying about them, but since it was a important to DH, I made sure we had them. Many years back, Ma ordered a set for each grandchild and child. All the grandkids have used them in their weddings so we were one of the few left to get ours. She cannot order anymore so Im glad we have them

EDIT: adding a closer shot to see the detail

Like everyone else said they are photos. Ours come free with our reception package, which is pretty nice.

Champagne is a typical toasting wine for celebrations and if you're doing a champagne toast it's the right glass to use...

There's not much reason other than that for using flutes.

If you're doing a toast with another wine or something else another glass would be more appropriate to use. I'd love to see someone using beer in yard glasses. Smiley winking

We got a deal for two flutes engraved with our names and wedding date for $20. Seemed like a good deal and we will probably use for photos, anniversary, keepsake, etc. We are NOT getting special fancy cake cutters/servers though. I will never use that again and seems like the biggest waste to me personally

We got some from a thrift store--but ended up not actually using them anyway. We just used the same plastic champagne glasses that our guests used.

Ours are kind of a joke being that FH and I are quite silly. They are really oversized ones from Michael's. They are probably about the size of our heads.

I got mine at a 2nd hand store, they are small, antique looking, and red. Very cute, got them for $2.00 each.

I agree. I'm getting mine from walmart ($12) and that's only for the picture. If the wine glasses at the VFW where we're having the reception are pretty enough I might not by them at all.

Totally photo's and a keepsake. My mom thinks they are necessary so I know she is gifting us a set as an engagement present. i think its sweet. Not necessary but its fun to do SOMEthing. Even if its just mason jars. I like Wendy W's idea! How fun that it matches your theme and they are totally different. My best friend found purple tinted champagne glasses at Target for like 12 dollars total and used those. To each their own!

I took the picture with the flash on and with it off so I'll post both lol.

Sort of a collectible. Something special. Like your dress. Only you'll find it a lot easier to use toasting glasses again than to wear your dress. Or s like having a nice pen and guest book for your guests to sign. Doesn't a legal pad and a Bic serve the same purpose?

This is probably one of the areas where I actually did splurge a little and went out of my way and got something that I really wanted. I mean I'm making my dress and that only cost me less than $50 for the whole thing. I LOVE champagne, but then my whole family does so there will probably lots of toasts going on. And I know we will be able to use these flutes year after year, so yeah I wanted some really special. Here's what we ended up getting....
