To have a wedding or not?

latonia, on May 24, 2018 at 6:46 PM Posted in South Carolina Planning 0 9
Well we want to have a wedding but realistically it seems our best option is the court house. But before I throw in the towel I want to look at every way on how to have a wedding with a small budget. Ladies what would you do if this was your situation?

Hi Latonia! A courthouse wedding can still be really lovely, but it seems that's not what you really want to do. What's your reason for thinking a courthouse wedding may be your best option? Is it a budget issue? If you have guests that you would like to have attend, you may still be able to find a way to make it work. I would check areas nearby for elopement/small wedding packages that would suit your needs. Share a little more information about what you're looking for and maybe someone can help!

    Hi Latonia,

My wife and I went to the courthouse, were able to get a list of locally certified Justices of the Peace. We did the paperwork at the courthouse but walked down the hall to the parks dept. and rented a very scenic park area- where the justice agreed to marry us.

Our friends all showed up at the park- it was great! We then went on to our reception. The justice of the peace even had some very ornate and colonial houses/ private gardens we could use( for a small fee) as a rain option.

If you city/town doesn't do these things, try neighboring towns! The smaller municipalities are budget friendly and happy to host you!

    Good luck

I understand, because we thought the same. I reached out to girlfriends and family. My stepdaughter is making a cake. My girlfriend is buying my bouquet. Another said she would help with food, as well as fiance's brother. Use your resources, but iif that's not an option.... make the best of your day, but be happy...not settling! Good luck..

A brunch is always my go to when you want a bigger wedding and don't have the budget. Look into a lodge (like the Elks or Moose), they rent halls for really cheap and include things like tables and chairs.
Do some grocery store catering with breakfast pasteries, like donuts and croissants, with coffee, orange juice and prosecco. Super affordable! You can do the whole reception for under $1k but not sacrifice your hosting.
