Okay we are definitely hitting a Dilemma!! So a wedding is already costly!! We are already paying for unlimited drinks, food, the venue, music, decorations lol! We live in the Atlanta area so all of those things are super costly especially the venue 😩! So i feel like this is the favor lol but i really have no idea what to really do! Because i don’t want to be rude but we also don’t want to add more cost. Are Favors Mandatory??? And if you have any ideas for a not so costly favor??

To Favor or Not to Favor 1

Not needed! We have forgotten to take the favors at every wedding we have been to. We will be creating Thank you cards for each place setting for our guests and a different one for our Head table and Parent's table. Wedding's are expensive enough, don't add additional burden.

P.S - Our venue comes with packages that include certain items and printing/paper for reception is one of the freebies so this is what we are doing with our freebie. If you really wanted to do this you could totally find an online format, decent (Hobby Lobby) paper and print them off at home on the affordable.

We are doing butter mints in tulle wrapped in ribbon. I understand the expense. The cost of a wedding takes on a life of own!!!
We have 30 days to go and now have tiny things to do and I cringe when I have to spend anymore money!!!

Skip them. They get left anyways.

If you really want to do something, my friend left a tiny bag with 5 Jordan almonds (signifying health, wealth, happiness, fertility and long life) and some Hershey kisses.

Just skip it! We are not doing favors. I've to a few weddings without favors and I didn't even miss it.

I've gone back and forth with this as well. We live in NY and everything is very costly as well. I settled on chocolate for the favors. I ordered a couple of molds off Etsy and we'll be doing that. I don't think they are necessary, especially since they end up in the trash most of the time. I just like the idea of a little someth5for our guests...even tho I too am doing open bar, and we splurged on a highly recommended DJ. The molds were super cheap.

Chantal, honey, favors are still expected in the South. I'm serious. I know Atlanta is expensive. We are having a Victorian theme, so a friend made rose scented goats milk soap cubes. What about tiny jars of preserves, or honey, that says " Spread the love?" You will know your crowd, but at our reception their will be a ton of upset older ladies if no favors. I just saw an article on inexpensive wedding favors by Brides or Martha Stewart. Let me know if I can help.

They're not mandatory, but we're doing them! I honestly thought about skipping them, but my FMIL and FH's grandmother wanted to make homemade strawberry jelly for everyone (it's so delicious) so I was fine with them doing it! We're also having a photo booth, and the photo strips will have info for our wedding on the bottom so that's another favor we have.

We're making handmade soap for our favors. If we have a bunch leftover, it's not a big deal. Just means we have Christmas presents for his daughter's teachers! Lol. I have been thinking about skipping them, but it was the one thing my FH was enthusiastic about, so I don't want to take that away from him.

Not mandatory! Now if you're worried about it you can bulk order some Hershey's Kisses and grab party favor bags and some nice ribbon, that'd be fairly inexpensive and most people like edible favors if anything.
Definitely skip any kind of customized favors.

Favors are definitely not mandatory! I wasn't going to do any, but I started thinking about favors I've seen at past weddings and remembered how my grandpa's friend made homemade jelly and just gave them out in little jars. My grandpa makes really good homemade hot sauce, so I just bought some hot sauce bottles and he's making the hot sauce. I spent like $40 for favors for 100 people (I don't remember how many families, though). My mom just did Jordan almonds at hers. She got little favor boxes from dollar tree and put a few Jordan almonds in each. If you do decide to do wedding favors, it doesn't need to be anything personalized or fancy!

Have you seen the smores idea? It is very cute. We are doing small bags of chocolates with ribbon and a note (I bought them from Etsy) that says "Love is Sweet" with our names and date on them. You are doing a lot already. They really are not necessary. Good luck with everything!

Not necessary. Not at all. People realize most get left behind.

I have been to weddings were the guest just forget about them and leave them behind. They do look cute, I do think they add something to the wedding decor. to add a little touch depending where you place them but definitely not necessary in my opinion Smiley smile

We are also having a photo booth..and I ordered magnetic photo strip sleeves off amazon to place at each seat. They come with a card inside thanking them for coming. The sleves were under $50 for over 100 and they can put the pic in them.
