To cake or cupcake?

So I've always thought of doing cupcakes and one small cutting cake for our wedding. I feel like it's easy, efficient, can have a couple different flavors, cute and the potential for less waste. My sweet FH asked if I want them because it's cheaper or if I really just want them because I like them....

My sweet FH asked if I want them because it's cheaper or if I really just want them because I like them. So now I'm thinking about it. Only have about 110 guests so either way it wouldn't be too crazy costly. Do you guys see any pros or cons for a cake vs cupcake debate? Why did you choose what you did?

We're doing mini cupcakes so people arent full after one and can try multiple flavors. And we will provide to go containers so they are part of the favors (the other part is the photobooth) we will also have a small cake to cut into... but luckily i know the baker so we're getting quite a deal... i just cant remember the last wedding i had cake at so i wanted to do something where people are more likely to eat it by taking it home.

We are doing a 6"&8" cake for cutting. The rest will be cupcakes. In the end the price was about the same with where we were looking. I love it that people won't need to wait for the cake to be cut before they can get a slice, everyone gets the same amount of frosting, don't need a plate and fork and they can eat them all night long. Also once you cut the cake the exposed side will start to dry out where as a cupcake has a wrapper to protect it from the air.

We're doing a cake and possibly cake pops as well. Personally, I like cake at weddings and since cake pops were such a hit at our engagement party, we were thinking about including those as well.
