I recently purchased my wedding dress! I am going to take it to be altered soon. I need the take a few inches off the bottom but I am also playing with the idea of adding a slit. The slit would be similar to the Google image but a little less high. I love the dress as is but I love the idea of adding the slit but cannot decide if I would regret it. I need opinions!!!!

It probably is best to go without the slit. The present fit probably would probably be too tight to allow your leg to just peek out.

That’s going to change the structure and fit of the dress. Did you try on dresses with a slit to see how they lay before you purchased yours? Talk to the seamstress for advice.

An alternative to an open slit is to have a slit with a lace inset -- if this seems reasonable also to someone doing the alterations.

It doesn't look like there is a seam in the front of your dress, so it would be very difficult to add a slit.

Thank you everyone! I think I am going to go no slit and keep it simple.
