TLC's Four Weddings

kaylarae, on March 7, 2014 at 3:04 PM Posted in Community Conversations 0 25

OK I'll admit, I enjoy watching this show. But to be honest, the whole "competition" idea makes me sad. It makes for a great show, I get that but the idea of trying to compete with other brides to have a "better" wedding to win a prize just kinda seems to take away from something as beautiful as a wedding. One bride "wins" but isn't every newlywed couple a winner? I mean, the point is to marry the love of your life. Everyone's wedding is gonna be different because it is made to suit the couple. Whether or not you like what someone else is doing/has done really doesn't matter.

Do you watch those types of shows? Would you ever go on a show like that?

I would never go on a show like that... but I LOVE wedding shows. 4 weddings, My Fair Wedding, Bridezilla, Say Yes to the Dress.... So good!

It's nice to see a guest's perspective on things but adding commentary from my couch is way better Smiley winking

I wouldn't go on the show, mostly because I wouldn't want three strangers there judging me. I do watch it but mostly to get ideas. I feel like you can predict what they will dock points for. Dry weddings=no honeymoon for you!

I wouldn't want to go on a show like that.

I do watch 4 Weddings every so often though. If only to get ideas and see what not to do. lol

I watch Four Weddings sometimes, but the thought of having 3 people at my wedding judging my every move would bother me. Plus I feel like I will love my whole wedding and then to have to watch the show when it's on and hear everything that they didn't like would upset me! I would go on Say Yes To The Dress!

I like to watch for weddings but would never go on it. When watching it I point out things I would not do and things that would never be a good idea.

I think 4 weddings would be better if the judges were not the brides themselves but 4 non-related people. Then we would get honest feedback.

LOVE Four Weddings, my venue was actually one of the winning brides venue and we chose that couples custom designed package for our day! Got a steal on the price as well. Smiley smile

I actually did a cakenfornone if the couples on the grooms edition of four weddings. I'll attach pic. Anyway the only benefit I saw was a lot of the vendors worked for free and the hall upgraded a lot of things since they were gonna be on tv.

I also worked a four weddings wedding. It was really stressful. I had to stay for a "flip", (when they switch the room from ceremony to reception) so I got to see a lot of behind the scenes stuff. I don't think I would want to be a guest at a wedding like that, let alone have one. The day is already stressful enough without the signage, consent forms and crew following you around and directing you where to go.

I enjoy watching the show, but I also could never be on a show like that because I wouldn't want strangers judging my wedding.

I freaking LOVE Four Weddings and Bridezillas. I'm totally late though - didn't start watching until I got engaged so I'm catching up on reruns and Netflix. I love watching "Reality" TV but I would never be a cast member...never.

The flaws of that show are hilarious.

"It was windy. So I'm giving her a 2. But the food was the best I've ever eaten!"

Its good TV though. I like weddings shows and love seeing everyone's different style. I saw an episode where one of the girls got something stuck in her eye and she had to leave early but she was still able to make the comments "I think she did a good job decorating but I was expecting more from her since she is a designer." And another girl complaining about a Sunday wedding, "They should have considered its Sunday people work tomorrow." good TV.

I love them all. Except Bridezillas. I can't handle those chicks. I do love when the rude girl on Four Weddings gets burned, though! Oops.

What pisses me off is they will put an $8,000 bride against one who's wedding is $20,000+. PUH-LEASE!! Where is the fairness in that?? It should be done according to $10k and under, $20k and under, etc... Also, NO professionals... aka wedding planners. I'd also LOVE it, if instead of the brides voting, the viewers got to vote!!

I applied and interviewed to be on Four Weddings. They said they couldn't coordinate the schedules so they never filmed here.
